Nice campground
Nice park with fairly large sites, mostly open understory so not much privacy but Oaks give good shade

Pros: Beautiful spots, beach access, boat ramp Cons: trash at campsite, 30/amp breaker was tripped and wouldn’t reset, bathrooms not well maintained, strict 3pm arrival and a 9pm curfew for arriving back into camp We stayed June 26th site 114. Not sure this would be our first choice if back in the area. Just felt like there were so many restrictions and tbh everything should be too notch condition if you aren’t allowing your campers to arrive before 3pm. Beautiful views. MANY of the campsite have to shade at all but there were some on the inner loops that have plenty of shade. This site was right across from the bathrooms so that was nice.

We stayed here to disconnect, meaning no WiFi, cable, or septic. It was nice not to have WiFi and cable but not having septic limits my stay to 4 days. We have a 42’ 5th wheel so driving to the dump station during out is not ideal but also not a deal breaker.
There is a small beach located near the site we were in as well as lots of trails/roads to walk on.
I would recommend this park for daily/weekly trips where you want to disconnect from technology and enjoy the great outdoors.
We had nice views of the lake from our campsite. Booking a spot was very easy using Recreation.gov. Many campsites were closed while we were there during COVID restrictions, so check ahead. There are trails available for hikes around the lake.

This COE campground is amazing. We stayed in site 66 right on the water. There are great spots everywhere you turn. The bathrooms were very clean and the staff was very helpful. Boat ramp was easily accessible and there was plenty of space along the shoreline to hang out.

This park has some Great Lake front sites, but even from the upper loop where we stayed we enjoyed a beautiful view. The upper loop also has trees which really helped with the August heat. The staff is very strict about the 3pm check in time, but I understand they have rules. The park is clean and I did use the nice roomy showers they have.

The grounds are very nice. Lots of trees in the RV area away from the water. Water front options for RV and camping. This place also has a "beach" area that you can swim at that is marked off with bouys. As far as the lake, it's a very choppy and muddy lake that is full of speeding boat traffic. The gathe staff is very rude!!! Don't let them ruin your stay though. The restrooms are clean and the place even has a boat ramp, nice trails to walk and lots of wildlife.
Nice large sites with covered picnic tables, a fire ring, and a grill. The sites along the lake front do not have trees for shade but the ones in the back row have nice trees. No hiking in the park but the area has nice roads for biking

et me start this by saying that the park is beautiful but the reason we will not be returning and we will pay to go elsewhere is a particular employee. She is an older lady with chin length gray hair who was so unbelievably rude to us!!! We had already been staying at the park for a day and had our car tagged. We had left for the day and when we came back, the gate was open. We stopped at the stop sign and looked inside and no one was there and we went through the gate and next thing we hear a woman screaming at us and when we backed up and started rolling down the window, she literally yelled for my husband to put on a mask, which he did with no problem and then she yelled this is a federal park and you can’t just come in and my husband nicely said “yes ma’am we have a reservation” and he pointed at our car tag and she rudely goes well I didn’t see it and there is a stop sign for a reason and my husband says well the gate was up and I did stop at the stop sign and we looked in and no one was there and she rudely goes “well the gate is broken and I was washing my hands” and then storms off. Not once was my husband rude to this lady. If your gate is broke and you want people to do more than just stop at your stop sign and you want them to wait to be waved in, then put a sign. There are a ton of other handwritten signs at the gate house. There was no reason for us to be treated that way. I’m so very disappointed in this place.
many parks around canyon lake, this has been here awhile.
This is seriously one of my favorite places to be. My cousins and I decided to take some hammocks out to Canyon Lake and do some grilling, swimming, and chilling. We had a ton of fun and the weather was perfect to sleep under the trees. Highly recommend. Make sure you get there early because it gets busy quickly.

I spent two weeks here with my husband 18 years ago. We had the best time, & we've been back many times since. Everything here is fantastic; the warm water, the playful deer, the bright sunshine, the even brighter stars, & the cool breeze in the evenings! We've seen this park grow & improve over time. I highly recommend this gem!
