Lovely Lakeside Campground
I spent a week in December and the campground was quiet and beautiful. I had a spot right next to the lake where I kayaked, biked, and just walked with the dogs. Highly recommend!

I think this may be a drug/theft area. There are locals coming in and out constantly all night. One keeps shining a very high power green laser at all the camp sites. Another has parked a boat in a tent only site and is walking around my site and others sites with a very bright flashlight looking through peoples stuff.
The bathroom is full of rotted wood all over the ground.
There is an astounding amount of Gar and other large fish all over the ground around the camp sites.
The camp hosts seem so old they dont have a clue what is going on here.
The hidden gem of Lake Whitney. Tent sites are tucked in the back of the park away from foot traffic and most vehicles. Lake front sites are perfectly located with access to the lake but not too far from hard stand bathrooms and showers. We will definitely be coming back again.
The reason I'm leaving three stars is because we have small kids and tent camp. There was sand spurs all over the ground. I had to try to shovel out most before putting the tent out. It didn't matter, every 2 minutes the kids where crying or I was pulling one out of the dogs paw or my leg. They didn't seem as bad around other parts of the park. However, spot 48 and the tent areas around there were terrible. Other then dealing with sand spurs the entire time, the view and lake was nice!
One of the best parks on Lake Whitney.
Great COE campground on Lake Whitney with well spaced sites for trailers and tent camping. Includes a large section for equestrian campers that includes paddocks for your horse as well as trails to ride on. There are both 30 and 50 amp spots as well as tent camping sites. A boat launch, shallow swimming areas and 2 playgrounds round out this fantastic, family friendly campground!
Tent camped at site 60 which was great! Right off the water and super close (but not too close) to the restrooms. Weather for us was rough with high winds the first day but the next two were beautiful! Lots of wildlife, as we were pulling into the park we saw lots of deer..and throughout our stay we were visited by some Canadian Geese. The fire circle comes with a grill but it’s pretty small, and this specific site isn’t very level but we found a spot for our tent. Definitely coming back!
It’s a gorgeous park and I’d hate to leave a bad review just because we went at a bad time. Our weekend was filled with rain and wind but the last day we were there was gorgeous and we were able to explore. The campsites aren’t numbered which was confusing and there wasn’t any cell phone signal. (Verizon). Bathrooms were nice though and had great hot water. It’s a kid friendly park with playgrounds and plenty of room to play without to much traffic. We will definitely go back in the summer for our kids and get a more accurate experience of the park.
I would recommend this park highly. We booked 9 days here and will be heading out tomorrow morning. Nicely wooded with a good mix of sun and shade. Park is well maintained and sites are spacious and spread out nicely. It gets very busy on the weekends and most sites are occupied. Swimming beach looked nice but to cold for me to try out. Lots of boat traffic at the landing on weekends. Whitney is a short drive away and offers most anything you may need. Our Verizon service was spotty at best but not totally unusable. We were able to connect to internet with our ATT Hotspot though.
