Pretty but heavily visited

Cades Cove itself is a gorgeous loop but the campground isn't as private and secluded as one would expect for camping. To me it feels a little more pruned and polished and not as "wild" as Elkmont & Cosby. Rangers also seem to be more stringnent in this campground than at others-although I am not a rule breaker-it seemed they were extra tough on certain things. Still enjoyable and still GSM but not my first choice.

Cades Cove with Kids

Very family friendly campground! Rangers walk through a couple times a day, felt safe. The kids had a great time playing outside

Beautiful.

The campground is very clean, and there are lots of campsites available. Cade's Cove is a gorgeous area in general, and camping is a great way to take advantage of the pedestrian and cyclist-only Wednesday/Saturday mornings (highly recommend this!).

Gorgeous but croweded

I have stayed at this campground many times. Located in a gorgeous area with scenic views, wildlife, hiking trails and waterfalls. Very busy throughout the year. Clean and enjoyable, great for car or RV camping. If you want more seclusion and less people, then try the backpacking trails.

Beautiful and Quiet in the Fall, Tons of Wildlife

Rustic camping, with tons of wildlife in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Well cared for, nice staff. Beautiful hiking trails, convenient store with bike rentals and wildlife watching. Remember to keep your food well locked, this is black bear territory, and since many people can't follow simple directions, and do feed the wildlife, the black bears in the smokies are not afraid of people, and associate them with food. There is some nose pollution from the generators. No electricity, no showers, no cell service, perfect for a weekend getaway into the wild.

Smoky Mountain Traffic Jam

The Smokies are the most visited National Park in the country. And once you go there, it's no surprise to hear that fact. People are everywhere. Cades Cove is a huge traffic jam. Expect to go 2-5 mph the whole way around (so that 11 mile loop, plan generous time to get around it). The sites are close together, but it is a beautiful and historic part of our country!
