Great to stay or for daytripping

Excellent location and close to Bend and the Deschutes Brewery for dinner and drinks. We loved the trails and how easy it was to access the water. The scenery is amazing. Picnic benches are available in the day camp area. Clean campground. We stopped and took photos with the shoe tree on the way. see photos Great landmarks!

Great spot!

Definitely a five star campground. Close to the falls and great trails. State workers were so friendly to my family and always willing to help!

Big campground with great facilities

Tumalo State Park Campground is big, and spots might feel a little tight. The tent areas didn’t seem to have a whole lot of privacy and room. We stayed in a yurt, which was nice and clean. Unfortunately the neighbors weren’t great about following the quiet hours. The bathrooms and showers were really nice. We had a great time playing in the Deschutes river!

Clean, comfortable, and nice!

This is s a terrific campground. The sites are all very clean. The hosts are wonderful! There are sinks to wash your dishes outside the bathrooms. The yurts are wonderfully clean, warm, and well-equipped. The campground is kept very tidy. I have really enjoyed both times I stayed here.

Busy state Park

This state park is right on the river with full access! Bring your floaties! It gets super busy on the weekend. Its probably the closest camping to Bend, so worth checking out for sure. This isnt where the falls are, but a nice place to spend a day or two lazing the river! Nice facilities

Fantastic location and facilities

We loved the proximity to Bend, closeness to the Deschutes River, warm showers, and clean facilities. The park hosts were friendly, the spaces were far enough apart for a little privacy, and everyone was really respectful of their neighbors.

Can't wait to go back

Very nice, clean, campgrounds and facilities. Beautiful area with plenty to see and do. Down side to going in early April a lot of hiking and recreational areas were still closed for the season opens mid April

Nice Campground. Great location near Bend.

We ended up staying here because of its proximity to Bend. The sites were nice, there's a shallow river across the road that was fun for everyone to wade in. There's a few ranger activities and such. But really we stayed here since it was so close to Bend and all of the activities at Newberry National Monument. Would stay again.

Kittens

We camped next to a field that was home to a mom cat and her kittens. The campground is usually busy and it next to the highway which made it little loud during rush hour. It is located next to a river, that has river access, but created a bug problem. Overall, enjoyed the trip.

Easy hike for snow shoeing!

I love going to Tumalo falls state park and taking friends as well. It is an easy hike in the summer and winter (if you want to snow shoe). There is also the option for making the hikes much more difficult as there are trails to go around the waterfall and up to explore more. I would suggest getting there really early if you want a parking spot. It fills up quickly!

Busy, but quiet and friendly

We visited this campground in August of 2015. Almost all of the sites were occupied. Due to the way it's designed, there was very little noise from other campers. We had one of the lower sites next to the river and had shade most of the day. Showers are located near the upper sites but it was only a short walk to get there. Bring a bag of peanuts to attack the Stellar's Jays for the little kids to watch! We will definitely be back next year.

A Posh Campground

Only a 10 minute drive from Bend, Tumalo offers a sophisticated camping experience. Heated individual showers, clean bathrooms, and quick access to firewood are a big step up from the usual camping basics. With the Deschutes River running through the park, there are also plenty of outdoor activities available. I had a great time, but make sure to bring warm clothes though--it can get pretty cold!

Tumalo - What a state campground should be

Tumalo State Campground is a little gem located between Bend and Sisters OR. If you are into "roughing it", this probably isn't the place for you. Tumalo is clean, small, and during my visit, attended to by some folks who appear to be professional camp hosts - they had they're own wooden sign. This place has paved access to a decent number of back-in sites, all of which were very neat & tidy. The real gem of Tumalo is the bath & shower facilities: They are extremely nice, clean, with the showers being fully self-contained private rooms - with HEAT LAMPS! Even my kids who are pretty picky about the whole concept of "public bathing" and whatnot, found Tumalo to be downright welcoming in this area. Hands down, Tumalo is easily the nicest state campground I have ever been in, and it even gives some of the "resort" campgrounds I've visited a run for their money. There is firewood & ice for sale as well. Note: My kids knock Tumalo a point for "No Internet!" - but really, did you go camping to spend all your time doing what you can do at home? No, you did not.
