## Overview

 The North Umpqua Wild and Scenic River pauses at Toketee reservoir providing a secure home for a wide variety of wildlife. Here beaver and otter make their homes. Visitors are sometimes treated to seeing and hearing the beaver\'s tail slaps. Great blue heron and kingfishers are joined in fall and winter by ducks, geese, and bald eagles.
## Recreation

 Many people enjoy some of the state\_\_\_s best German Brown trout fishing. Due to ongoing dam repair Toketee Lake is 2-3 feet lower than the boat ramp, so small non-powered boats are best. Toketee group site is located next to one of the trailheads for the famous North Umpqua Trail. This trail is a favorite for hikers, bikers, and horseback riders.
## Facilities

 Toketee group site offers a small pavilion with two tables and a large grill. Next to the pavilion is a large, open grass area for tent camping. Parking for the site doubles as the RV campsites. This area\_\_\_s surface is graveled and is big and fairly level. With room for both tent campers and RV campers, this group site is able to accommodate most events. Near the group site is Toketee Campground which has some sites available on a first-come, first served basis. Should your group need more space, this campground may help with those needs. There is no water available at the group site or the Toketee campground.
## Natural Features

 This group site offers a picturesque spot for small groups to gather. Lined with willow and mixed with maples and alders, this section of the river is very tranquil. The nearby footbridge offers great views of the river and lake. 
## Nearby Attractions

 There are two spectacular waterfalls within a five-minute drive of the site. Watson Falls is 272 feet high and has a short trail to the base of the falls. During wetter months, be prepared to get a cool shower of fresh mountain water. Toketee Falls is an amazing two level falls flowing out of a basalt column wall. The viewing platform is less than a half mile down the trail. For faster paced recreation, there is the North Umpqua Trail. This is a very popular trail for mountain biking. Many bikers use Toketee as a base camp for exploring the North Umpqua Trail.

Toketee Lake Campground

We were walk-ins at Toketee Lake, surprised to find not just a campsite on a summer weekend, but an amazing campsite right on the river with lots of hammock hanging options. Slept right between the trees to the sound of the river.

  

In the evening before sunset we hiked up to the Umpqua Hot Springs - this is the closest legal camping to the hotsprings TH. 

  

Each site had a table and fire ring. Loved all the trees.

Thoroughly enjoyed camping here. Lots to explore! Enjoyed hiking the Umpqua trail up to the hot springs. Also explored the lake near the campground. Loved the sort hike toToketee Falls.

Camp at Toketee

I enjoyed the Toketee camp ground because was away from everything and the employees and people were very kind. Our camp spot was very nice, quite, and relaxing. The camp ground wasn't very full and there were plenty of activities around the area to enjoy.

When you find this place uncrowded it’s a great place to be right along the river. No hook ups. A few pull through sites and bathrooms are clean. Umpqua Hot Springs are a few miles down the road. Enjoy!

Great place to camp within close driving distance of Umpqua Hot Springs and Toketee Falls. Popular in summertime, water front sites fill up fast. Beware of mosquitos in summer months.

Beautiful sites short drive away from Umpqua Hot Springs and Toketee Falls

Great campsite for many activities in the area or a stop before Crater Lake. Very close to the Umpqua Hot Springs as well as, I’ve heard, awesome mountain bike single track. the campsites are fairly spacious with a nice fire pit and tables. However, there isn’t much privacy between sights. The bathrooms are typical NFS pit toilets and were very clean. 

Great Location

This campground is reminiscent of days gone by. Located along the banks of the beautiful upper North Umpqua River, and the North Umpqua trail campers can enjoy nature.
The local area is home to the Toketee Ranger Station, and a unique Historic hydroelectric power generation system. Toketee Lake is well suited to canoe and pontoon fishing. The lake is cold and German Brown trout can be caught on loot or fly.
This campground is with in 2 miles of the beautiful Toketee Falls and 5 miles of the stunning Watson Falls. In addition to the North Umpqua Trail the Clearwater trail provides cascading aqua clear waters and cool temps on hot summer days.
The area hot springs are disappearing and potentially unsafe. Local residents reported problems with car break ins and in sanitary conditions from over use.

- be aware that it does not show up on GPS; type in Toketee Lake and follow signs for ranger station and once you pass that continue for about 1.5 mile until you reach the campground sign
- some tent spots along the river that are nice 
- no on-site ranger, no running water in bathrooms 
- 10 min drive to Umpqua hot springs &amp; Toketee Falls 

Good location, decent campground 

Nice campground. Decent spacing. No bad spots. Lake access isn’t great we tried to hike to the falls from the campground but count get to it by foot. N.umpqua trail DOES NOT lead you to toketee falls. Drive back down the road for access to the falls. You can hike to the hot springs but it’s about 3.5 miles. There were some loud neighbors partying til 2am both fri/sat nights but that’s to be expected in southern Oregon. 

Big complaint- the rec.gov reservation site map has the A and B loops reversed. I made a reservation well in advanced and should have been riverside but B10 ended up being highway side and A 10 was the site I thought I was getting. Kind of ruined the trip for me as the river side sites are primo. A1-A9 are river side.

Toketee Camp Ground

A lake, a waterfall, and a hot spring all within hiking distance, what more could you want from a campground? And the lake is next to the campground! There are two reservable loops here. Check the dates on the reserved hang tags carefully as there are a LOT of dates listed for this popular campground. Basic vault toilets that are about ready to be emptied. Every site is about equal with large parking pads, lots of trees, nice solid picnic tables, and good fire pits. The road will be very dusty when dry, so drive slowly here! The only down side was a couple who were digging through the trash for recycling, yelling and screaming at each other. Later they were up at the hot spring as well, still screaming, still digging for cans and bottles. 

Be sure to hike to the waterfall and to the hot springs!

Sites were pretty spacious. Nice running creek background sound at most sites. Toketee Falls and Umpqua Hot springs (open when we went mid July) hikes are awesomely nearby. Would recommend! 

There were tons of bugs and mosquitoes when I went so I'd recommend applying bug spray everywhere!

Great site!

Toketee campground is one of my favorites. It’s usually reserved through summer but if you drive up you’re usually lucky enough to get a space! The bathrooms are vault toilets but don’t smell and are pretty clean with toilet paper stocked. There hasn’t been a camp host in for a few years. Lots of mosquitos!
