Rough Road
The road in from Sisters is very rough. Then when you get to the road to the camp it’s even worse. We talked to a park ranger who said the contractors lost the contract to do maintenance. The ruts and pot holes are the size of a small car, so if you have a big rig you can make it just drive extremely SLOW!
The Lake is beautiful and abundant with fish. Brookies and Rainbow Trout mostly.
People were swimming and the air temp got down to 30 at night and maybe 70 during the day. The water temp was way colder.
We took our canoe out a few days, (no motorized boats allowed on the lake) some days it got to windy. It was beautiful even with the nearby fire going on, there was a lot of smoke.
We stayed a week. There is no fee at this time due to the lack of camp hosts and contractors who couldn’t keep up maintenance. The bathrooms are RANCID. But are stocked with TP. I would still advise bringing your own.
No water. No trash. No electricity. The sites are super close together, so not a lot of privacy.
I definitely would have gave it 5 stars if the road was in better condition and i didn’t think we were going to roll our rig in a ravine.
This is a very popular spots with the locals, so a lot of young people partying (not just on weekends).
Not a lot of bugs. A few flies and A LOT of bees. I would suggest bringing some sort of bee catcher. We picked one up at a store in Sisters.
There are about 10 to 12 spots. Not really numbered.
