A local favorite
Wasn’t sure what to expect with this campground because there was hardly any information available online, but it was a generally good experience. Almost everyone else there was local to the region and it was a lucky thing for me, because they were quite friendly and generous with their knowledge.
This is a “primitive campground” but the natural surroundings are more than worth the sacrifice of a few creature comforts.
Try the following hikes if you find yourself here:
1.6 mile Reynolds Creek Trail, just a bit of an elevation gain, good to stretch the legs. 5 mile Sunshine Trail, good for a day trip, but the elevation is around 2,000 feet so get ready for some inclines. 10.2 mile Little Baldy Trail, this came highly recommended to me but I didn’t have time to give it the time it needs (1.5 days). It’s about 10.2 miles and more suited to backpackers.
All of these are outlined well on the bulletin board when you come in.
