June 2025

Great place to stop driving down Highway 101. Drove through before reserving site to ensure I booked one with solar visibility. Not many people here. There is a camp host as well as several bathroom houses. Was a little loud over the weekend with OHVs being nearby but has been quiet during the week. Also quick drive to beach. Only small complaint is the grass was pretty grown up at some of the sites. Could just be early in the season.

Quiet with Forest like setting

Only 40 sites, each site is unique in size and depth. Handicapped accessible walking trail about one mile around campground. No ATV access, you will need to drive down the road to a day use site with adjacent dune access. Quiet. No utilities. Flush toilets, no showers. Water faucets but not to fill tanks. One bar on phone, so if you want to disconnect, this is the place. Nice amount of bushes and trees between sites. Some sites are full sun, most are partially shaded. Hidden from the crazy coast wind.

Spaceious! Site 34

We stayed in June. Lucked out with the weather! The dunes blocked most of the wind which was nice. Campground has plenty of options for your camping needs. Big sites, small sites some without shade. We stayed in the second loop where they had large sites for haulers/trailers. The site was secluded, and felt some what private. We had our trailer and two trucks to block the view of the bathroom and other sites. Only downside was there was an opening to the trail that lines the lake behind the site. Not ideal for someone with a reactive doggo or kiddos who may run off. OHV noise wasn’t terrible, we didn’t mind anyways. Dunes are 5 min down the road.

Loved this spot!

Right on the dunes this was a great spot. Pretty loud considering the crowd it’s catering to but we enjoyed it because it’s our type of people. Nice and clean but very minimal also.

Really nice spots here

This was a pretty nice and relaxing place to stay. The bathroom were emaculately clean. Only about a mile walk to the coast. I had a nice run to the ocean and back in the cool brisk morning.

Cozy at the coast

The sites here aren't quite as private as neighboring Waxmyrtle, but it's still a cozy little spot. Not a ton of mega RVs, and it was fairly free of campground noise, even in August.

That said, the sounds from the OHV area definitely carry. You'll hear engine noise and it's not quite as peaceful as other coastal campgrounds.

Great campground!

Pulled in hopeful to find an opening. All the other campgrounds were full from Rockaway Beach to here. We found a few open spots here. Nice mostly flat sites. Each site has a table and fire pit with a grill that folds over the camp fire. Bathrooms were clean and well lit. Camp host was great! This will be a place to come back to time and time again!

Easy access

This campground is located right on a lagoon, hence the name, with close beach and dune access. It also has some hiking and kayaking opportunities. Overall a decent sized grounds with some nice walk up only sites, as well as tons of sites to reserve. Other than mosquitoes which are expected, there was a lot of motor noise in the afternoon due to the close dune access. This quiets down close to dusk and then you can hear the roar of the ocean. The campground seemed to be on the slower side, maybe due to the noise, but I was able to block it out like white noise after a bit. This site is also more family friendly than the two that are closer to the atv access. There are no showers, but they do have clean flush toilets as well as potable water bibs on site. I didn't see any wood sales, but I tend to grab that beforehand just in case.

PROS:

  • easy beach access
  • Nice lagoon nature trail
  • Lots of walk-up availability

CONS:

  • OHV noise
  • No showers
