Just Ok

It’s an ok campground, if your taking kids there is nothing at the campground to do. Fishing is ok but the banks of the river are high. Also the water is after you pull in so you have to pull in fill up and go back around to your spot.

It’s not bad if your just going to park there and go other places.

Scenic, easy in/out and on the river

Stayed here 4 nights, pull through spots require a little bit of maneuvering with big rig (43’ fifth wheel). There was some mud where camper wheels were situated in the spot (needs material). Fire rings are not near RV but behind across the road on the river. Bath house is just ok - not great, not gross. Close proximity to lots of hiking but Hocking Hills itself has become so crowded… don’t come if you want to get away from people.

Meh

Stayed for two nights. Power went out the second but that wasn’t their fault as a storm knocked a tree down. This campground really didn’t have much going for it. You get a electrical hookup and that’s about it besides a picnic table. The fire ring is across the drive which makes it super inconvenient. Figured we’d bring some swim suits since it’s on the river but there really wasn’t any way to the river as the bank was about 5 feet up. The bath house was nice though. No playground which made camping with kids very uneventful for them. You’re right off the highway though but a good drive to any of the attractions. We wouldn’t stay here again.

Great location

Not many sites. Sites 26 and 27 are real small and private. Big enough for a pop up.

Water filling and black water dump. Electric. Close to river.

Right on the river!!!

This small and cost effective campground is so awesome! The river is small and is perfect to have a fire right next to. We also just went up the highway a little to a rafting rental place called murrys landing to raft down the river. It is one of my favorite places to camp!!

On the river AND the freeway

Right on the river, which is interesting, but it's also right alongside State Route 33, so you hear freeway traffic constantly. Trucks and motorcycles woke me up all night, AND there is a train track right across the river (about 200 yards away), so be prepared for trains coming through any time of the night or day.

It has flush toilets, which worked fine Friday and Saturday, but all of the women's toilets were clogged by Sunday morning, and the shower house needs to be hosed down- covered in dead bugs. Showers have this weird slimy grate on the floor- bring flip flops. The shower house is up on top of this steep hill, so you'll need a flashlight to get there in the dark.

The sites are very close together- one family moved in late at night practically on top of me- their tent was literally 4 feet from my picnic table. I could hear every word they said (or yelled) all night long. I moved down one site for a little peace and quiet, but be prepared- when crowded, you will be right on top of groups less than 12 feet to the right and left of you.

It's nice that the sites are right on the Hocking river, and there is constant traffic of canoes and kayaks going past. I thought this was fun. There is no way to put your own boat in here, though. The campground is on a very steep, muddy embankment and even putting in a lightweight kayak is very difficult (I tried and succeeded, but hurt my knee and fell into the water because of the mud- I wouldn't try this again).

All in all, I had a decent weekend, but I wouldn't stay here again because of the freeway noise and the way the sites are so close together.
