Campground is nice overall, there are multiple bathhouses and trash bins near the entrance. There are lots of bugs and ticks, tent space vary greatly from space to space. We started In p27 but did not have any shade and very little space so we changed sites half way through when a more desirable (F1) opened up. If you have a 4x4 vehicle, you may consider a off road driving permit for hatteras national seashore as there is an entrance at the from of the campground. From the campground to the beach it is about 1/4 mile of combined sand dune walking and a wooden bridge/walkway.
