Very peaceful campground

I am staying here for two weeks because I have a membership and because I am WFM and it enables me to travel.

I heard mixed reviews about this campground but since I had a 1000 Trails membership, I figured it was worth checking out.

It was a beautiful drive from Virginia and though we arrived in early evening, the Rangers were very nice and helped us get checked in.

The sight was a little uneven and took a bit to level but it is surrounded by trees and very quiet. Most of the yẹar round resident had some kind of Halloween decoration up so the park looked great. They even had a little haunted house set up for the kids.

All in all, this is a very pleasant campground and makes the membership worth it. It's quiet, it's pretty, and you are right between Lexington and Winston Salem. I'm looking forward to coming back over Christmas.

So much GONE

If you have low expectations of a RESORT, they won’t meet them. I was almost shocked that both pools would open on the Memorial Day weekend, almost. Adult, not allowed to have an adult pool I forgot, lower pool closed.
The hot tub is filled with concrete. The E bathhouse was closed due to no Hot water.
The lake has so much grass in it (used to stock with Carp) it’s scary to paddle on.
The lake has no peers, docks, benches and just a fraction of the beach it used to have.
Thousand trails, not so much since they cut the trees down. Oh, I forgot to mention, 80-ish camping spots where just added. That made for a very crowded…..everything.

Avoid like the plague

We reserved a 30amp site monies were paid even though it’s first come first serve on location. We arrive and get our envelope to go to our camp site and it was a 50 amp site. We saw 110 outlets and thought ok no biggie….. there was no power to this campsite at all. We call the ranger no answer (we had been told she was sick) we call the 800 number and get a number to a ranger in florida who says they’ll get the right person and have them come help…. 20 minutes later no person no call so I call again he says oh they gave you the wrong number I can’t help you…. Would have been nice if he had called back to let me know. So call the 800 number again and the lady tells me oh that’s no good, drive around and see if you can find another spot….this place was packed…. So it’s almost 8 at this time and she says oh I have to go it’s almost time for us to close and when I ask her what do I do about power…. She tells me it’s between me and the campground…. If I hadn’t of had a long extension cord that I could reach a tent site with we would have been in trouble the low was 30 for that night the next morning the ranger came by and this sweet lil 77 year old lady tried to help us move we told her we had drug an extension cord across could we just stay at the site at this point cause no one wants to move around like that while camping…. We went down to shower and the bathrooms were disgusting, toilets and the walls covered in feces, putt putt course appeared to be covered in sticks and tons of leaves…… this was just a terrible experience for us it was more like a white trash camp ground in the part we stayed at….. people with all kinds of junk outside of their permanent homes…. This was not anything like camping for us at all

Misleading information and not what expected

This was a last minute weekend get away. The website says first come first serve when you make your reservation for an RV site. When we arrived Friday afternoon, they told us that they have a set spot for us. We get to the site to discover it backs onto a construction area where they’re putting more sites. Wasn’t too bad at first, but at 7:30am Saturday morning they were out in full force with huge dump trucks and diggers. By 1:30pm they were kicking up so much dust and dirt that we couldn’t even sit outside. Will definitely not be coming back.

Has so much to do!

This campground has so many sites and they are well laid out and spacious. They have 30 amp and 50 amp sites to suit your needs. There is a nice restaurant to eat at, a small convenience store, arcade games, 3 pools and a ton of activities. There is also an adult lodge with a tv and pool table.  We have been coming here for about 6 years and we have always enjoyed our stay. I would recommend this campground to anyone as it is a fun place to stay!

Poor management, complete disaster

First at all do not trust what you see on the reservation page, completely fake! They have their own code book of rules that you will notice it once you are on site. Don’t think that they are going to give you a correct answer to your questions about their policy because each one of the workers interpret their code book of rules on their own way. Not even the manager or the office staff knows nothing. They discriminate you depending on the type of rig, that’s something that freezes me up just 10 minutes after arriving, they did it with a friend of mine! On the top of that, Latino colleges they will treat you different than the Americans!

Decent Stay

We stayed with family and reserved a cabin. Our two family members reserved two RV sites.

The cabins were wonderful and I would highly recommend them BUT... there is no late check in, and we were not warned of that at all, so when we got in at 10pm no key was left for us to get into our cabin. We had to spend the night in my dad's RV on one of the foldouts- if he wasnt there; who knows where we would have stayed.

I do not really recommend the RV sites, I didnt like the way they had the waste lines set up, and i kept smelling raw sewage.

Once we were IN our cabin, I must say- it was one of the nicest cabins out there and the whole family hung out with is at our cabin site since it had more privacy, didnt have a sewage smell and then was right next to the lake/pond. We also rented a canoe and had fun canoeing around the pond/lake

Awful

Waited about 25-30 minutes for a ranger to show us to a spot that was way to small for my camper! Roads are the worst pot holes speed bumps that are curbs! Kids under the age drivings golf carts around with out parents! Bath house was disgusting with mold and garbage everywhere! Will never recommend this place!

Nice RV Campground for the Family

Part of the Thousand Trails System. 2 swimming pools, camp store, snack bar, fishing pond (I cought 2 sunfishes in 30 min & I’m no fisherman) basketball court, mini golf, & playground equipment. Multiple bathrooms with showers - nothing fancy, but, adequate. The camping sites are close together, but, that seems standard in these types of campgrounds. People seems friendly and the staff were professional. Store has snacks, some camping stuff, & fishing bait. Snack bar has fast food & video games. Lodge has TV & pool table (we did not try either) but nice amenity for rainy days. It seems like most campers (at least half) had golf carts. This was our 1st stop on a coast to coast adventure with a 5 year old & 2 large dogs. This is mostly a RV park & not a wilderness experience - but as far as RV parks go - I was very happy with the experience.

Convenient to Highway 64

Great place to spend some time. People and pet friendly. Adult and under 18 pools open seasonably. Gated and campers are given individual codes to get in after hours. Only negative is that they were working on remodeling their activity center. So, evening functions were limited.

Great getaway! Family friendly, relaxing, but plenty to do!

The campground hosts, Tom and Jan were absolutely amazing! Everyone is very friendly and helpful. We were only there Fri-Sun but there were activities planned to include an outdoor movie (with free popcorn), arts & crafts for the kids, candy bar bingo, and a DJ. There is a putt putt course, pool, adults only pool and lounge, family lounge with small arcade games, pool table, and other games, a grill, small shop with ice cream (you have to try the ice cream sandwich with chocolate chip cookies 😍).

We would suggest either bringing a golf cart, or renting one. There are miles and miles of trails in the woods, along the river bank, and along the lake. We (2 adults, a 5 year old girl, and a 4 month old puppy) had a great time and can’t wait to go back!

Our campsite backed up to a hill, but it was shady and extremely welcomed during the hot days!
