Campground Convenient to Asheville and Mountains
I have been to several KOA campgrounds, and compared to other KOAs, I am a bit disappointed in this one. It has all the facilities you need, but the sites where I was were gravel and had minimal amounts of shade. Although shade is not a“make or break” situation, the sites themselves made me skeptical about staying at this campground in the future. The sites were not all that spacious and there was not a whole lot of privacy.
One redeeming factor for this campground is that it does have a rather long trail through the woods, even if there were too many flying bugs throughout. Additionally, you will hear traffic—lots of traffic. The campground has a large swimming pool, a rec room, and a playground, and it is conveniently located close to Asheville, which is a mecca for things to do.
When you come to this campground, make sure to bring your ear plugs. As I stated earlier, there is a LOT of traffic noise coming from Interstate 40. Even in a teardrop camper, you cannot avoid the sounds of traffic.
This KOA is okay as a campground if you are passing through or if you are just staying the night in a well-insulated camper to go visit other places during the day. I recommend this campground only with reservations about the noise and if you are staying in a tent.
