The area contains numerous trails through Adirondack forests, though specific bridle trails aren't mentioned in the available data. The Villages RV Park features spacious sites that might accommodate small horse trailers, though no specific horse amenities are mentioned in reviews. The Villages RV Park at Turning Stone

Very nice high-end camp resort for RV's and full timers or weekend warriors

This is a nice campground. I mean really nice. Very well thought out. All sites are full hookups (i think) and paved. Definitely geared towards the RV or trailer crowd.

Very well kept up, bathrooms are very modern and well stocked. Staff are attentive and useful, and they operate a great store with lots of options.

For activities, there are some great hikes around the campground, as well as excellent playgrounds, fishing, an awesome pool, and of course, free shuttle rides to the Turning Stone Casino right up the street.

The only real negatives would be the proximity to some railroad tracks, which can be somewhat active and very audible in some spots (you'll want to stay towards the south / front of the park if this kind of thing bothers you). That and some sites aren't that close to a bath house, so if you're not planning on duecing in your box, you might be looking at a longer walk than others based on where your site is.

      Limekiln Lake Campground

Spacious tree covered sites on a beautiful lake

We loved our stay at Limekiln Lake! We had site 270, which was close enough to walk down to the boat launch at night to look at the stars (and the Milky Way!) but a little too far to walk to the beach. Our site was spacious, with room for two cars, 4 kayaks, and two tents. The site features a picnic table (great condition) and a concrete fire pit (not so great condition, but it worked). Site 270 is just around the corner from the bathroom and water spigot, and feels very private within the rest of the campground. Behind the site is wooded forest, and the campsites on either side are far enough away to feel secluded. Because the site is surrounded by trees, we hung up multiple hammocks for a very cozy weekend! We walked around the campground and would love to snag one of the lakefront sites in future years! We spent a good deal of time out on the lake in our kayaks. The flies are actually pretty horrible- not sure if it’s a late year for them or if they’re just particularly bad this year, but they were relentless. The lake this time of year is beautiful and clear and a very nice temperature for dunking in. There’s a lot to explore out on the kayaks. If we had had more energy, we would’ve loved to bring the kayaks out at night to look at the stars. The campground is dog friendly, and our pup had a great time. Additionally, there are best boxes at each site, which was nice to store our coolers and garbage bag in. Unfortunately, our friends left a couple of closed bags of chips in there, and mice got into them, we think through a tiny crack. The bathrooms were pretty clean and had ample soap supply in this weird time of COVID. We didn’t check out the showers, but they did have them further down by the beach. Overall we loved this site!

      Limekiln Lake Campground

      July 2018 Camping

This was our first time here and we loved it! The staff were very pleasant. Campground and facilities were clean. campsite were very nice. we were on site 98 (water site) as it was amazing. Wild life here is amazing! Keep in mind Black Bears are present and sssn on the campground during our stay. we were able to put our kayaks in the water at our site and the water area was sandy so we could go swimming right at our site. kayaking was great! a small water passage off the lake leads you to a beautiful queit kayak trip through lily pads ans if you follow it leads to a beaver dam. My son loved it. There is a wslking/hiking trail right off the camping grounds. There are plenty of places close by to get firewood. The campground sold ice right at the gate which was reasonably priced and very convenient. We did not have cell service at camp but they did have pay phones at the gate. The center of the Town of Inlet was only a short 10 minute drive and provided some great little shops. there was a market store, coffee shops, dIner, Icecream shop, and a couple other places to eat. The department store had everything you could need (gifts, clothes, hardware, camping, housewares, fishing)!
The town park/beach was beautiful! We still did not have cell service but the town had free WiFi (best reception at the park/beach). We were able to make phone calls over WiFi.

      Limekiln Lake Campground

one of a kind in Adirondack

with a group of 5 stayed in this campground 2 nights for 4th of july weekend, i would love to go back any time i was carefull about the resevation and picked campsite 005 on reserveAmerica website. i wanted a spot next to the water so i could land our kayaks and canoes at the campsite. thanks to this link below i found number 5, secluded and quiet, enough parking sport for two and i think even a good size camper can fit eoth no problem.

      https://www.campadk.com/campsitephotos/campgrounds/Limekiln+Lake/site/5

highly recommend check your site before you go.

ok first of all, the lake is beautiful and quiet very very clean water you can see the bottom. i have been to multiple lakes in Adirondack, you may confirm one of the cleanests. the water temperature was very reasonable, it was not freezing or very warm, it is within the perfect comfort zone in july.

the campground management provides kayak and canoes with reasonable prices and very laidback about it which is kinda nice, you pay at the enterance and go to the beach and grab your kayak, sef service.

there is a box to keep your gargabe or food from the black bears which was nice.

the campground is very strict abou trhe gargabe though, which can be a problem because there are no garbage dumbsters all over the camp it is only at the enterance , which means better keep your garbage bags clean not punched, torn or anything other wise you may have to drive it leaky bags all the way thru the camp in your cars, we had almost that problem. rules are rules better separate recyclable stuff before you get there.

there was no signal for Tmobile at this yard but the campground has pay phones where all in state numbers are free to call.

      Limekiln Lake Campground

      Great place!

Enjoyed 3 nights here with no complaints. There is a minor bear problem but they didn't do much besides sniff around. Rangers were always right on top of things when one would wonder around and sure to chance them off. Good helpful staff and a nice location near the water. Will be returning for sure.

      Limekiln Lake Campground

      New Favorite Campground

We managed to secure a site right on the lake and the view was gorgeous. The sites were far enough apart where you still felt some privacy. Table and fire pit were in good condition, and restrooms are a 2 minute walk down the road.

The Villages RV Park at Turning Stone

      Beautiful

Convenient to the highway with 24 hour shuttles to the casino 5 minutes away, yet quiet and beautifully maintained. Offers a pool, playground, hiking trail, fishing pond, paddleboat rentals, camp store, very clean bath houses throughout, maintained sites, fire rings at each site and organized in loops to offer wooded and full sun sites depending on what you are looking for. Visited at least once a year since 2016 with our most recent visit being June 2018. Hoping to visit again this season.

The Villages RV Park at Turning Stone

      Weird vibe but great property

The property is beautiful and quiet. Cute market at check in. Plenty to do. Neighbors keep to themselves and kind of stare le us down when we pulled in and during dog walks…maybe just an outlier experience? Staff very kind. We just stayed one night so we were an easy in and out. Super buggy.

    Guide to Woodgate

Woodgate, New York camping areas sit within the western Adirondack region at approximately 1,700 feet elevation. The dense forest terrain creates natural site separation at most campgrounds, with summer temperatures typically ranging 65-80°F during peak season. Black bears are common throughout the region, requiring proper food storage regardless of campsite type.

    What to do

Paddling opportunities: Limekiln Lake offers excellent kayaking conditions with clean water and minimal motorboat traffic. "There's a lot to explore out on the kayaks. If we had had more energy, we would've loved to bring the kayaks out at night to look at the stars," notes Lena L. from Limekiln Lake Campground. Canoe rentals available directly at the campground entrance.

Nature observation: The quiet shorelines support diverse wildlife viewing. "Rented a canoe for the day and found a patch of carnivorous plants and got up close with several birds on the water," shares Anna G. Fishing opportunities exist at multiple locations, with bass and trout being common catches.

Wilderness hiking: For those seeking backcountry experiences, Murphy Lake trails offer challenging terrain. "The Murphy Bennett Trails is a technical challenge to hike, or bike in on. And be prepared to go over downfalls," explains Tony F. from Murphy Lake Leanto. The trail passes through rocky, rooted terrain and pine tree barrens.

    What campers like

Spacious, wooded campsites: Sites at many campgrounds provide ample room for multiple tents and equipment. "Our site was spacious, with room for two cars, 4 kayaks, and two tents. The site features a picnic table and a concrete fire pit," writes Lena L. Many locations feature mature trees ideal for hammock camping.

Clean facilities: The Villages RV Park maintains modern amenities. "Facilities are new and clean," confirms Keri from The Villages RV Park at Turning Stone. Bathrooms are regularly stocked and maintained throughout the season.

Stargazing conditions: Dark skies provide excellent night viewing opportunities. "My favorite time to come is August during the meteor showers," states Jessica D. The campgrounds' distance from major light pollution sources enables visibility of the Milky Way on clear nights.

    What you should know

Wildlife considerations: Bears are present throughout the region. "There is a minor bear problem but they didn't do much besides sniff around. Rangers were always right on top of things when one would wonder around and sure to chance them off," reports Kevin C. from Limekiln Lake Campground. Bear boxes are provided at most established sites.

Insect activity: Biting flies can be intense during early summer. "The flies and gnats were kind of bad, but we had a screen room to keep them at bay," shares Anna G. Black flies are particularly problematic from late May through June.

Trail conditions: Expect challenging hikes to primitive sites. "A two hour bike ride with a couple of breaks. The trail snakes its way through the wilderness. Passing by two other bodies of water, Bennett and Middle Lakes, you pass through rocky, rooted terrain," explains Tony F. Fallen trees may block trails after storms.

    Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly biking: Limekiln offers safe cycling areas away from traffic. "Really nice park kids got to ride their bikes everywhere with minimal traffic," notes Jynee Z. from Limekiln Lake Campground. Most roads are gravel with modest hills suitable for various skill levels.

Activities beyond camping: The Villages RV Park offers multiple recreation options. "Offers a pool, playground, hiking trail, fishing pond, paddleboat rentals, camp store," lists April L. These facilities remain open throughout the operating season.

Water temperature considerations: Lake swimming conditions vary throughout summer. "The lake this time of year is beautiful and clear and a very nice temperature for dunking in," reports Lena L. about August conditions. Spring and early summer water temperatures remain quite cool.

    Tips from RVers

Site accommodations: RV sites at The Villages are specifically designed for larger rigs. "We had no problem getting a nice paved spot for our 34' class A," shares Frank M. from The Villages RV Park at Turning Stone. Sites include full hookups with both 30 and 50 amp service.

Noise considerations: Railway proximity affects some campgrounds. "The proximity to some railroad tracks, which can be somewhat active and very audible in some spots (you'll want to stay towards the south / front of the park if this kind of thing bothers you)," advises Michael O.

Horse campgrounds near Woodgate, New York: While equestrian facilities are limited in the immediate area, some sites at The Villages RV Park might accommodate small horse trailers due to their spacious layout.
