Whether you’re doing day hikes in the area, recovering after a long backpacking trip, or enjoying the many attractions, this campground is the perfect place for exploring all this area has to offer. Lots of water spigots and a few sites near the river, plus showers. It’s extremely well cared for, likely thanks to the AMC culture in this part of the world. It’s open year-round so it’s a nice place to stay when you’re skiing in Tuckerman or XC skiing along dozens of other trails. Make a reservation if possible, this site will fill up every day in the summer and into fall. I love this part of NH.
