USFS Campground without the crowds

The good outweighs the bad at Obsidian. It’s a ways from the highway, but the road is graded so it’s no big deal even for trailers and small motor homes. There is no water - pack yours in. There are pit toilets. The aspens and pines separate each campsite so you get a little more privacy than in some of the more popular campsites. If you have a trailer getting to sites past the first loop can be tricky or impossible depending on your size and clearance. There are a lot of hikes and trailheads close to this campground and it’s just a few miles from Emma Lake which is gorgeous. It’s definitely a bit away for some of the larger eastern Sierra crowds.
