Nice but not free
Nice little campground easily accessible from I80. It's not free anymore, but only 15 dollars a night. There's restrooms and walking paths. Was perfect for a one night stay.

I stopped by after having discovered this free spot last year but they are now charging $15 a day, which is not worth it. I would have rather planned to drive farther into Wyoming to get one of the free spots. I understand why the town started charging a fee but it’s sad nonetheless.
we left it was scary
Stop by to rest and it’s now 15 dollars to stay. City passed 4/24
This is a great location off of I80 if you don’t need any amenities. I boondock often so this was a perfect place for me to sleep at. Cell signal was excellent and let me work remotely. It’s quiet and I’m pretty sure I was the only person there at night. There are bathrooms if you need it. Highly recommend if you need a beautiful free spot!
Awesome little spot on a lake. Distant train noise is a minor down side, all the thistle your dog will get into is bigger. Clerk at a nearby by Gas station said "you can stay there free for up to three nights."
Lovely little spot surrounding a lake. There are no designated sites. You can pretty much drive and camp wherever. There are a few picnic areas with structures. Had one unisex bathroom with flush toilets and running water. Dumpsters and garbage cans. Only complaint is it's between a railway and a highway so it gets a little noisy. Besides that great place to stay for a night on the way out west.
This campground is free it has a lake it has a few picnic shelters with grills. There is one bathroom with a flush toilet it’s coed. You can drive just about anywhere on the property and set your tent up. There are no electric hook ups or water hook ups available. But for an overnight stop or two it’s a pretty nice place
We stopped here but it doesn’t look like the park is open. Bathrooms were all closed and big mounds of dirt blocked most of the roads. Bummer.
Pulling off I 80 we saw RVs park around a pretty lake in a nice park. We drove over and asked someone in an RV if there was an honor box or if somebody would come collect a fee. He said “no the rule is just leave it cleaner than you found it.”
Be sure to drive your tent stakes deep in the sandy soil as the wind can blow pretty hard in the Nebraska panhandle at times.
