Best Cabin Camping near Cut Bank, MT

Four cabin facilities operate within a 60-mile radius of Cut Bank, Montana, primarily clustered along the eastern border of Glacier National Park. Glacier Mist RV Park in Cut Bank offers basic cabin accommodations with electric hookups, running water, and access to shared toilet and shower facilities. Shelby RV Park & Resort, located 30 miles east in Shelby, provides cabin units with electric hookups, sewer connections, and trash service. Kiowa Frontier Yurts and Cabins features rustic cabin units with electric service, drinking water, and wood-burning fire options. The cabins include picnic tables and access to shower and toilet facilities. "The bathroom/shower are clean and spacious. Very friendly and accommodating will come back, also full hook up and lots of space," noted one visitor about facilities in the area.

Cabin rentals typically require advance reservations, especially during the peak summer season from June through September when Glacier National Park visitation reaches its highest levels. Duck Lake Campground provides cabins with both 30-amp and 50-amp electrical service but offers limited amenities with no showers or toilets on site. Pet policies vary by location, with Glacier Mist RV Park and Shelby RV Park allowing pets in cabin accommodations, while Kiowa Frontier expressly prohibits pets. A camper mentioned, "We stayed in one of the unfurnished tipis. There were 5 of us. What an awesome experience. They even gave us an air bed to use."

Most cabin facilities in the Cut Bank region provide only basic furnishings. Visitors should plan to bring their own bedding, towels, and cooking equipment unless specifically stated otherwise by the facility. Campers requiring additional supplies can find provisions in Cut Bank or St. Mary, approximately 10-15 miles from most camping areas. Drinking water is available at most cabin sites, though several locations have limited or no access to potable water. Trash disposal is available at most facilities, though capacity may be limited during peak season when campgrounds reach full occupancy.

Glacier Grizzly Resort- RV, Tent Site & TIPI - PERMANENTLY CLOSED

    False advertising

We booked here for a week and only stayed 3 nights! It's basically just a big open construction pit. It could be nice in the future but I would not waste your money on this until later on when it's fully done. Theres only one available shower right now, no 50 amp even though it's advertised, no laundry facility even though it's advertised. The owner told us he would deliver us a picnic table and make us a fire pit by 10 am on the second day we were there and neither of those things ever happened. We had to go get our own picnic table from a big dirt pile and we had to build our own fire pit with rocks that were scattered around the construction site. Once again, I will say maybe in the future this place will be nice BUT I would not go right now as it is a Full blown construction site still. I should also add the construction noise is loud and annoying. The whole reason we went to Glacier was to enjoy the peace and quiet not construction noise. So we packed up and left and went camping elsewhere.

Glacier Grizzly Resort- RV, Tent Site & TIPI - PERMANENTLY CLOSED

    Brand New Campground!

We arrived to this brand new campground and stayed for a week at the tent site. We were a group of 11 and it was such an amazing experience! There was still some construction going on, and a few advertised details were not up and running, BUT it did not deter our group at all. There were 2 fully working bathrooms with showers, picnic tables, and a fire pit. The tent site was very open with soft dirt and grass, which was very comfortable for us, and gorgeous views of Glacier park! The nearest grocery store and gas station were about 15 minutes away. The east entrance to Glacier National Park was about a 15-20 minute drive! We will definitely be back here again in the future when it’s 100% completed, because I know it’s going to be PERFECT!

    An expensive dirt pad

We have stayed for a few nights over the 4th of July, 2023 at this place to visit Glacier National Park. The only good about this place is that the campground(not a resort by far) is relatively close to the East side entrance of the park(~20 miles). There are really not many choices to camp on the East side of the Glacier National Park, but I strongly recommend KOA St. Mary's over Glacier Grizzly campground if you are able to find availability at KOA. The pictures on Glacier Grizzly's website do keep changing constantly and most of the pictures are taken of some other places and not theirs. I am attaching few pictures of what it is really over there. The place is all gravel with water, sewer and electric hookups. They used to advertise 50amp hookups(they have stopped doing so since), but there were only 30amp hookups available at the time of our stay and I really doubt anything changed since. The sites are indeed fairly spacious, though fire pits are simply hole dugouts in the gravel. There was only one, recently built shower house available for the whole campground(2 showers and 2 toilets), but upkeep of it was lacking- no toilet paper, no hand soap, no way to dry your hands after using a restroom, nobody cleaned shower house during our entire stay! As an icing on the cake, one of the toilets got clogged and nobody had bothered taking care of it for a few days. Furthermore, there were only a couple locations for a garbage disposal that were overflowing with garbage. For around$130/night, we have definitely expected more. All the negative reviews are fairly accurate about the campground and the service(or lack of the service) provided.

Glacier Grizzly Resort- RV, Tent Site & TIPI - PERMANENTLY CLOSED

    DON'T!!!

I have a difficult time leaving negative reviews on any business, but I felt this one is important enough to warn any would be campers what they are in store for if they decide to book.  My wife and I have traveled the country for the past few years and this campground is the absolute worst we have ever stayed.  Here is a list of what you can expect if you stay here:

    • There is no office to speak of.  There is a building, but it is completely empty.  No one to check you in, no one to show you where your site is.
    • No office staff.  We wondered around aimlessly looking for site #8.  There are no site numbers.  We finally ran into  a few of the workers at the camp and were told to basically find a site we liked and set up.
    • The sites are large with full hook-ups but only 30 amp service, not the advertised 50.
    • The wifi doesn't connect.   The antenna (which is located in the bath house) would never connect to the internet. (see Pic)
    • The entire campground is dirt and gravel.  No shade, no plants and really dusty.
    • Each site was advertised with having picnic table and fire pit.  Neither of these existed on most sites.  We asked to have a table brought to our site and was assured it would be brought over shortly.  One day later, we found a table at an empty site and carried it over ourselves.  Fire pits are evidently dug when you request one….we didn't bother.
    • The bear proof trash containers were completely over flowing during our stay.  If I were a bear this is the place I would hang out.  (see pic)
    • Since there was no office staff to speak of, my wife and I became the camp greeters.  When we were outside of our rig, we would watch campers drive into the camp, look for the office and office staff. They would then drive around (like we did) see us outside and ask us if there was anyone to help them.  WE would then tell them to pick any spot they'd like and set up.  We did this several times during our stay.  I really think that you could just pull in, set up, stay for a week and nobody would question it.
    • My wife and I both realize that this campground has major potential, but it is not ready for paying customers…..and we paid quite a bit!  Hoping for some type of refund but very doubtful that will ever happen.  We have tried contacting the owners who were very helpful when we first reserved our spot, but after several attempts (phone call and texting) no return calls.

    Staff was helpful

Our party stayed in one of GLacier Grizzly Resort unfurnished tipis.  There were 5 of us. What an awesome experience. They even gave us an air bed to use.  The Bathrooms were close, clean, and had a private shower.

    Buyer Beware

Not at all what owner Daniel promised us when we booked in February of 2023.

The Good: Convenient place to park with a pretty view near the east entrance of Glacier National Park.

The Bad: As of the end of July 2023, it's under construction (although no work was done the entire time stayed 6-days). It's a dirty, gravel, dust-bowl parking lot. No shade- ZERO. Couldn't use our awning because it was constantly windy. Could only use 1 AC unit because we saw no evidence of 50 amp, only 30 amp electric, despite what employee confirmed on telephone (prior to our arrival) and what's listed on the website booking page. Filthy, fly-infested, nearly unusable bathroom/showers. Construction materials scattered all over. Overflowing garbage dumpsters that said Do Not Use, the entire time of our stay. A little dead grass & weeds, but generally speaking this is a gravel parking lot. As others have said, the sewer pipes are 6-8" above grade and many flow uphill from where the camper sits, making the flow challenging. We disputed the premium rate we were charged in February and Daniel agreed to a credit. That was two weeks ago with no credit applied. We have since filed a dispute with our credit card company. We camped at Glacier Grizzly Resort- RV, Tent Site& Tipi in a Fifth Wheel.

Glacier Grizzly Resort- RV, Tent Site & TIPI - PERMANENTLY CLOSED

    Liars Thieves

Beware! The people running this business are con artists, liars with no ethics and no morals. I booked for a Glamp Tipi for 1 night for an overpriced $440. The evening of the reservation, they texted me and said that their "power is out" on all the furnished tipis and told me they have an RV instead. I said I did not want an RV because we already have one but really just wanted the tipi experience. Lori told me that she could only offer me what they have or we could just cancel. I said I will just cancel then if they can't provide what I booked for and then asked her if I will receive my refund within a few days. She said "yeah definitely". 3 week later, I noticed I still have not received my refund. I left her a few text messages, it shows that she read them but she did not respond. I called their toll-free number and Daniel answered. I explained to him what happened. He said that Lori no longer works there anymore and she probably didn't respond because she doesn't care. He said he will take down my name and number and check the system and call me back tomorrow morning. He never did. The next day, I called him back several times throughout day and he never answered the phone. This is such shady business practice. At this point, I got really worried that I'm a victim of fraud and that they have stolen my money and hiding now. I started to look up the online reviews and noticed all the negative reviews were similar stories to mine. I texted Lori again confronting her and she finally replied "I'll check back with the cancellation department and let you know when I hear about your refund." Obviously she is lying because Daniel just told me she no longer works there! And of course she never did check and never ever got back to me, even when I texted her multiple times to follow up after that day. How can they think that they can just steal innocent people's money and run off and get away with it?! I called my credit card company to dispute the charges because this business refuses to cooperate and refund me for a service that they could not provide. I called them a hundred times and through other avenues and they clearly are avoiding me. I know there are many others like me who have been scammed by them. We should all band together and take legal class action lawsuit because what they are doing is wrong and so that they don't keep doing this to more people! I found so many fake reviews they did for themselves to offset the ton of negative reviews they receive. There are obvious telltale signs that the positive reviews are so fake. They are a huge disgrace to the genuine Blackfeet Tribe community.

Buyer beware! Not as advertised. Mud pit

This place is under full construction. Huge mud and gravel pit

No 50 Amp service at all. Not as advertised. It's awful. Nothing like pictured on web site. Do not book this place it is awful. Open electrical on the ground, a burn pit and open sewer pits. Not ready for occupancy. Owner was rude and wouldn't give discount for lack of amenities and construction noise. No 50 Amp service on site at all which we paid for.

Guide to Cut Bank

Cabin accommodations in the Cut Bank area provide visitors with convenient alternatives to tent camping when exploring Glacier National Park's eastern boundary. Located approximately 30 miles from the park's entrance, these facilities offer varying levels of amenities throughout the May to October season. Winter cabin options are limited, with Glacier Mist RV Park being one of few properties operating during shoulder seasons with reduced services.

What to do

Explore Two Medicine Area: Cabin accommodations at Kiowa Frontier Yurts and Cabins serve as strategic bases for accessing the less crowded Two Medicine entrance of Glacier National Park. "It's the perfect place at Glacier National Park to make a base camp and explore the region," notes visitor Nick G. The property sits within 15 miles of the entrance, allowing for convenient day trips.

Fish nearby lakes: Duck Lake Campground cabins position anglers within walking distance of productive fishing waters. The site offers electrical service for cabin guests but minimal other infrastructure. Visitors should pack all necessary supplies as no on-site services exist. Fishing licenses required and available in Cut Bank prior to arrival.

Stock up on provisions: The mercantile at Kiowa Frontier provides essential supplies for cabin guests without requiring trips back to town. "The food at the mercantile right there is great," reports one camper, making it practical for extending stays without lengthy supply runs.

What campers like

Personalized service: The owner interaction at Glacier Mist RV Park receives consistent praise from cabin guests. "The owner, Carol, will personally meet you at check in whatever time," writes Mayra V. The hands-on management translates to well-maintained cabin facilities and responsive service.

Cleanliness standards: Bathroom and shower facilities serving the cabin areas maintain high standards despite heavy seasonal use. "Clean bathrooms and hot showers," mentions a Glacier Mist visitor, highlighting priorities for those staying in more rustic cabins without private facilities.

Tranquility compared to park lodging: Shelby RV Park & Resort cabins provide quieter alternatives to busier park accommodations. "You can't beat the price and quiet atmosphere!! We decided to stay an extra day because it was so quiet," shares Brandon, noting the value proposition for those willing to drive slightly farther to the park entrance.

What you should know

Reservation windows: Summer cabin reservations near Cut Bank, especially at Duck Lake Campground, fill quickly. The campground features 30-amp and 50-amp electrical service for its cabins but lacks water hookups, requiring guests to transport their own water supplies.

Utility considerations: Water connections vary significantly between cabin properties. "Make sure you have a long water hose as some of the water connections are far away," advises a Shelby RV Park visitor. Multiple facilities have cabins with electric service but require guests to access water at central locations.

Weather preparation: Cabins near Cut Bank experience significant temperature variations, even during summer months. Nighttime temperatures can drop below 40°F while daytime highs reach 80°F. Pack appropriate clothing layers and sleeping bags rated for colder conditions than might be expected.

Tips for camping with families

Consider yurt options: Kiowa Frontier Yurts and Cabins offers alternative accommodations that appeal to families wanting structure with outdoor immersion. "The yurts are clean, it's incredibly quiet around there and the scenery is stunning," reports Nick G. The sturdy structures provide more protection from weather while maintaining a camping atmosphere.

Check pet policies: Cabin rentals near Cut Bank implement varying pet regulations. Glacier Mist RV Park allows pets with additional fees, while Kiowa Frontier expressly prohibits them. Verify specific property rules before booking to avoid arrival complications.

Bring entertainment: Most cabin rentals near Cut Bank lack television or internet access. Pack books, games, and activities appropriate for sudden weather changes common to the area. Cell service remains unreliable throughout much of the region, particularly at Duck Lake facilities.

Tips from RVers

Utility challenges: Water connections at cabin sites throughout the Cut Bank area require preparation. Shelby RV Park cabins present unique layout challenges: "Not all spots have water but most do. Make sure you have a long water hose as some of the water connections are far away," advises Brandon.

Strategic overnight stops: Glacier Mist RV Park serves effectively as a staging area. "The park is situated on the east side of Glacier National Park - the perfect launch site for a visit to the Park," notes Joan D. Cabin guests appreciate the strategic location for accessing eastern Glacier entrances without the premium prices of in-park accommodations.

Supply planning: Limited shopping options exist near camping cabins around Cut Bank, Montana. The Kiowa Frontier mercantile provides necessities, but selection remains limited. Stock up on specialized items before leaving larger towns.
