Only 2 sites

There are only 2 sites here. It’s a great place to fish, rock hound and there are some trails very close. The road in as well as the pit toilet are well maintained. One morning about 12 people showed up and just walked onto my site and went fishing despite my objections. They were really aggressive and they felt completely entitled to do whatever they wanted.

Just hanging around but kind of interesting

Staying at this campground was kind of different than others first things first. I’m from Michigan. I ran into a couple out here that’s camping and I can say they are the true Montana experience. They gave me advice and recommendations that you just can’t get on the Internet, I plan on STAN at campgrounds most days until January 1, 2024 and it’s interactions like this that makes me want to move to Montana

Great Spot

There are just 2 sites here but they are spacious and private! There is a toilet, fire ring, and picnic table. The river is beautiful and loved hearing it at night. Both spots were filled on a Sunday night, so try to get there early or on a non weekend. Lots of deer in the area!

Roaring River

I loved this spot nestled in the forest. Quit, secluded, no cell service. Campsites about 5 miles down a maintained dirt road. I was the only one here— but didn’t feel like it with all the mining trucks and miner buses coming down the road. Aside from that, there was a vault toilet and a picnic table. Stayed early June. No frills, easy camping by the roaring river.

This campground is located right off East Boulder Road. It could be tent sites or very small RV, van, trailer. One site is right along side the creek which is the best site. The second site has a path to the creek. The toilet is located between the two sites. Needed fly spray for the toilet. Toilet didn't smell the flies were just so BAD. The site next to the creek is totally open, great for solar. The other site is wooded and shady. With so many of the sites in Montana you will have amazing mountain views.

Directions: 19 miles S of Big Timber on US 298, then 6 miles East on East Boulder Road County R 205.

Could camp here for days.

I came in from the North so I traveled MILES on stone/dirt roads through gorgeous Montana back country. I had the site to myself, sometimes one of the many road construction crews would stop to you the facilities. Awesome campsite if you can forgive the occasional semi or dump truck.

SiteNo numbered sites but maybe 1 of 4...?

Nice campground with limited number of sites

Seven miles down a gravel road. Nice camp site along the Boulder river. Just two camp sites, first come first serve. Both were full when I arrived (one family spread across both sites), though I made do.

Tiny, but beautiful and close to good hiking

There are only two campsites in this no cost Forest Service campground. There's no water, except from the stream, but there are good picnic tables and a well-maintained vault toilet. There's good fishing and the trailhead for the Green Mountain Trail, a very nice 6 mile hike to the Natural Bridge, is across the road.

Wonderful fishing access and equal amounts of shaded and sunny areas.

This campground is listed as 'Dispersed Camping', i.e. that you can camp anywhere 100 ft from a roadway, stream, or existing campground. When we arrived there appeared to be two designated sites each with picnic table and fire pit with cooking grate; there is also a centrally located vault toilet. So while you can choose to hike into the woods and make your own site you can also use either of the two existing sites, which is what we chose to do.

The northern site (which is what we chose) is spacious and a large portion of it is very flat for tent placement. There are plenty of trees on the western side which provide ample shade and many are close enough to hang a hammock, if desired. This site has wonderful river access. We camped here in early-mid June when the rivers and streams are still high due to snowmelt and this certainly was the case. From provided maps it appears the river normally takes a different path, but even still there will be easy and close access. There was a modest shallow portion
