Great stopover

Deer lodge has some great museums and Anne tours. The old prison and associated mushrooms are a must stop. Check out the ghost town! Indian Creek campground is right off I-90. Is safe, clean and well taken care of. Full hookups and super easy access with a town full of fun! Chinese food across the street was yummy too

Fine for its need

It was a fine camp site, but the interstate is a stones throw from the site. If you are a heavy sleeper you'll have no problem.

Great stop.

On our way to Yellowstone and it was getting late in the day, seen signs for the Old Montana Prison and decided that would be a fun stop. Pulled in and note on office door said to find a site and could either pay in the drop box or in the morning. Sites were pretty level and we had a nice grass area around our picnic table. The snow capped mountains were a nice touch. Only downside was the freeway but it wasn’t a problem. Staff was very friendly and facilities were clean. I plan on stopping here again, I’m interested in seeing the Grant-Kohrs ranch.

Works as a Last (Last) Option

I will say first off that this would work as a last resort for heavy sleepers. The two tent sites are small grassy areas right by the bathrooms (so very little privacy) right in the middle of a sea of RVs, which are mainly hemmed in by roads and freeways. Precious little greenery - it’s mainly all gravel. There was no electricity while I was there, no one was really out and it had sort of a depressing feel. Pluses are gorgeous mountain views to the east and a small walking trail somewhat near the tentsites. This is probably an affordable 2 or 3 star for an RV.
