My family and friends have been camping at Eckbeck for over 20 years. We love the campgrounds the sites are spacious and clean. I recommend site 18 and any along the outside edge nearest the Baptism River. The latrines are exactly that, latrines. The hotter the day, the hotter the odor emanating from them. For your stargazing needs I recommend going out to the bridge and enjoy the sites. The northern lights are visible under the proper circumstances. The town of Finland has a great bar and restaurant called R-Place, stop in if you need to escape those rainy days.
