The Best Camping Near Eagle Harbor, Michigan

Daisy Farm is such a fantastic place to stay. My boyfriend and I stayed at Daisy Farm while backpacking to Rock Harbor. The campground has a number of shelters and we had no problems finding an available one. There are a few bathrooms a short distance from the shelters but they are a little hard to find the further east you get. The campsite also has a dock with a great view of the lake. We ate dinner out at the beach and spent the afternoon relaxing on the dock, talking to other backpackers. It was such a great and wonderful place to spend time and we loved our stay. Highly recommend staying here if you're on this side of the island, and waking up early to watch the sunrise!

Great place for lake views

Loved this spot. Spent our first night here coming from Rock Harbor and had a great time. Got our own shelter even though we showed up a little late in the day. Had some good spots to put hammocks up at our site and water is plentiful since it's right on Lake Superior. Awesome spot to spend a night 

Great Little Spot 

This campground feels large, and has a lot going on. Ranger station, dock, access to the trail that goes up to the tower, lots of vault toilets, and quite a few shelters that sit far away enough from the lake so that inclement weather won't affect you as much.

Lovely!

Not as many sites located directly on the water, about a 7ish mile hike from Rock Harbor. This is one of the few if only campgrounds on the island with fire rings because of people boating in and fishing. Quite a few tent shelters. Can get crowded because of the close proximity to the harbor. 

Busy Camp

It’s a very popular and crowded site. Decent vault toilets but the dock and walkouts to the rocky beach make for easy access to the water. After hiking in from West Chickenbone, we were in need of cool swim as the interior of the island can be much warmer than the coast, not to mention the arid conditions throughout making it difficult to find water. 

Having a shelter was a nice enough comfort. The place fills up quickly. It beat staying at Chickenbone but I’d prefer Moskey Basin or Three Mile. 

Easy access to a refreshing dip in the lake

Not my favorite campground on Isle Royale due to its size and popularity. There's a good chance you won't get your first-choice site, you can end up quite far from a water source, and some open meadow can make you feel closer to other groups. Still beautiful, has fire rings, has a shelter/pavilion, just not as secluded as others.
