Beautiful place and great people!

Plus...First let me start by saying the people who work at the campsite store are wonderful. The land is great, convenient set up. Minus...the cost is a bit more than what I normally pay. There is a booking fee not listed on the price boards. No port-a-potty around the primitive sites.

Great Place to Relax and Unwind

Over 250 full hookup sites, great shade, beautiful trees, good size lots, however, some are on a grade making leveling difficult. Electric and primitive sites available. Great for equestrian trailers, convenient location off Interstate and right next to Kentucky Horse Park. Bathhouse, game room, laundry, camp store available. Numerous playgrounds and basketball courts for the kiddos. Swimming pool and for the avid hikers a trail that takes you to downtown Lexington.

Camping and horses, nice!

Always sites available. They have 260 sites with hookups. Additional electric primitive and acres of basic primitive. Nice central bathhouse, laundry, pool tennis and basketball courts and playground. Great campstore. On the grounds are the horse arena and stables you can walk around. Nice fishing lake with sidewalks. Our site had table firepit water and electric. Favorite sites 140 and 141 pull thru.

Great camping for all ages

Much like the name says there are horses but this campground is much more than horses. I noticed that whenever I pulled in the campsites are large and spacious. Great for RVs or tent campers alike. I was very excited to stay in this area based on the location it’s self. This location is close to the Bourbon Trail and very close to Lexington it self and all of the activities that await you while there. Their local he is a mail which mills their own flower with a water wheel that still runs from the early 1900s. My site was Both level and grassy it made for a great night and despite the fact that the camp was pretty full it didn’t seem overly crowded.

State Park Campground

Only water and electric. Dumpstations available. Sites are pave but rarely level front to rear. Next to horse park with many events thru the year. Close to Lexington and the Ark encounter. Lots to do and see.

Beautiful and Fun Campground

Great location with tons of fun stuff to do on site and nearby. Shady and level sites all located near the well maintained bathhouses and other top notch facilities. Highly recommend visiting this campground.

Expensive, noisy

Had to spend a night close to Lexington and this was pretty much the only option. Sites in the campground were tight/ expensive and nothing we needed. Ended up staying in the open field, which was still pricey, but at least we were almost to ourselves.

One Night is Enough

Granted - we showed up as a Walk-In but we did call ahead and were treated rudely on the phone and in person in the office. As were two other campers checking in ahead of me.

Buildings are clean and well kept. Campsites are messy and grounds neglected. Sites are tight. Lots of freeway noise all night long. Needed two nights. Left after one and moving on in search of a new place further down the road. Won’t be back and won’t recommend.

Beautiful

Very beautiful CG in Kentucky. Green everywhere and lots of fun. Hiking, trails, etc. all around, and of course, the Horse Park!

Meh

We stopped here on our way through and didn't find much reason to stay longer...it was clean "enough", and the basic facilities were there, but we felt it had more potential than what it offered. Saw a few horses on trails, but being an experienced horse rider myself, I wouldn't call the trails anything special or worth the trip.

Decent for staying during events

There are plenty of amenities and clean restrooms but this is really nothing to write home about if you're looking for a great outdoors getaway. It's definitely cheaper than a hotel though. If you're comfortable in a tent and don't want to shell out the cash for a hotel, this may be a good option for you.

So many great trails

Taking the horses out here was a wonderful experience, it was great having so many different trails to go on in order to not only train the new horses how to trail ride, but also take the more experienced horses on tougher trails.
