Lovely and Relaxing
This place is well maintained and the staff are extremely helpful. We enjoyed watching the geese float down the creek and the fantastic pool.

Nice campground with great access to KY Bourbon.
We stayed at Elkhorn for 6 nights; it is a great place to use as a home base for the sites in Frankfort, as well as multiple distilleries. It is just 5-miles or 8-9 minutes to Buffalo Trace. The bathhouse is very well-kept and one of the nicest we have encountered in our 2-years of camping. The pool was also clean and well maintained. It gets crowded on weekends; lots of children. I gave it 4-stars instead of 5-stars for just a couple of minor issues... the sites are a bit close together for our liking, although they are likely standard distance apart for this type of campground. The camp store was poorly stocked with mostly empty shelves. I understand they are recently under new management, so that may be something they are still getting together. If we go back to this area we would definitely stay here again.
We stayed for almost a week. Loved it there. Very quiet. Clean bathrooms and showers. We had full hookup. Putt-putt was only 1.00 per person. Nice little store. We will definitely come back!
Surrounded by rivers and open green fields. Very nicely maintained. Lots of campers even this early in the season! Looks like kids and fishing folk would be in heaven. What a great introduction to our first time in Kentucky.
Pay attention to the website directions. GPS took us on a long detour.
Highly recommend.
We just stayed at Elkhorn Campground last weekend.
On Thursday before we left, the forecast showed we would be getting rain all weekend (bummer). On Thursday afternoon, the owner called and asked if they could move our lot, because where they had us, was known for holding water when we got steady rain. I was so impressed with how thoughtful they were and so appreciative that they moved us to a different spot.
We stayed on site #41. It was a short walk to the beautiful Elkhorn Creek (at the back of the campground). Perfect little spot for fishing (you will need a fishing license to fish, as it’s public water).
As I stated before, It rained most of our stay, so we didn’t get to utilize all of their amenities. There was a poll (not open yet), a putt putt golf course, a playground and what looked to be like a common area where they have group campgrounds.
They had a very nice bath house.
We were in a water/electric site, so we used our portable tank and walked it to the dump station for our Grey water dumps.
It’s a short drive to multiple bourbon distilleries, a short drive to the state Capitol and close to the grocery.
The staff was super nice and we will for sure go back.
Great staff with friendly service where they try to help you in anyway possible. Family enjoyed putt putt, but the pool wasn’t opened when we were there. Lots were mostly level with full services, but backed up to RV storage field. Would return again and try a different lot.
Beautiful campsite!
We only stayed one night but would definitely return. We got a pretty leveled site right on the river. Very helpful and friendly staff.
Family friendly, clean, up to date, pool, activities super staff
Managers are awesome , pool clean, laundry and store on site. Minutes from town - this place is taken care of and owners take pride.
From the kayaking , to the fishing , great place!
I absolutely love this campground. There is a great deal of things to do with the kids(water wars and different events for them to participate in) the scenery is great and the owners are fantastic.
Pros: If you have an RV, kids and/dogs, this place is for you! It has a pool, mini golf, a playground for the kiddos and other such amenities. Lots of RVs here as well so the campground is very open. It seemed like everyone had a dog as well. The bathrooms and showers are clean and heated. There are also many sites on the creek which is nice.
Cons: Not really the best place for tent camping. It did ok since we were only there for 1 night. It does have campsite water and electric. Tent spots are not available on the creek which was a bummer. The bathrooms it seemed are right by the dump station and they smelled so bad of sewer we decided not to shower. It was that potent. There is only one bathroom and it's farthest from the tent sites.
Overall: if you have an RV or camper, this is a great place. Pass if you are tent camping.
Gravel and grass FHU sites mostly level. Great pool and bathhouse with full bath suites in beautiful tile. Very clean.
highly recommended, close to Lexington and the Ark encounter.
This is a great place.
We pulled in for 1 night in our 40' DP. nice campground, clean, friendly staff and very nice showerhouse with modern colors and tile. on a peaceful river. The pool & mini golf amd games in the large pavillion were extra touches.
Very nice campground. Great place for families with young kids.
