Prairie Pines Campground is a great place to get away without going far away. The campground is a great place for family fun and relaxation. Prairie Pines Campground features 95 lots, each with hookups for water, sewage and electric. The campground is open year round with handicap accessible restroom, shower, and laundry facilities. The sites are spacious, mostly pull thru, and can accommodate big rigs. The pet limit is 2 dogs. Limited wifi is available. There's a pavilion for group gatherings.

The Best Camping Near Gifford, Illinois

Nice space between sites.  Free WiFi.  Very large and clean bathrooms.  Laundry also available in bath house.   A little different than my typical “wooded” camping experience, but a nice, clean, quiet spot to relax. 

Full hookups and affordable

Close to Champaign, IL off I 57 is this charming, open and clean grass covered park. Large sites with full hook ups, picnic table and scattered large trees near an Air Force base.
  Large very clean bathhouse. Several small playgrounds and swingsets scattered about. The grounds are meticulously maintained, and the small number of permanent residents also have maintained their 5th wheels and Motorhomes well.
I will definitely stop here again.

This is the mobile home park of the decommissioned Chanute Air Force Base repurposed as a campground and operated by the City of Rantoul, so where a mobile home was, it is now a campsite. Streets, sidewalks, curbs and street parking areas still exists. Because of that, all sites are pull-thrus from the perimeter road.

$3.50 reservation fee for self made online reservation 

Rain saturated ground prohibited site pull in. Had to back up over a steep street curb into a non angled site. 

Unable to get into originally selected campsite due to insufficient room to back into site, so moved to Site #13. 

Street lights throughout campground WiFi available but wasn’t given log on password upon check in and office had closed for the day once we realized we didn’t get the log on password

One Muddy Night Stay

We had some trouble with our sites breaker and everyone was really helpful. Was fixed within the hour. They have bathrooms, laundry, and full hookups. Nice place to stop if you’re traveling through IL.

Good people, nice location 

I was pleasantly surprised that this in town park didn't feel in town. 

It's on the outskirts of town on the old Chanute AFB.  They have lovely tree coverage, it's close to lots of amenities like grocery shopping, sports complex, urgent care, quick interstate access. 

If you want to park and go adventure the area, ride the bike path, check out some of the surrounding towns or local shopping it's all right there but doesn't feel right there. Or you can set up and just relax for a long weekend. 

Free delivery with purchase of firewood, and if you're not in the mood to cook dominoes delivers too!

Camping, glamping, rv life, you name it, your rig will be happy in this pull through park.

Pleasantly surprised 

Our Garmin RV GPS’ conflicted with our new Ford RV navigation, wanting to take us a more direct route and Garmin through town to this city park. Either route would have worked but suggest you locate the campground(CG) on the map and verify the route with Google Maps or Waze. Check-in was at the camp host site near where you enter the campground near the shower house building in the center of the CG. After a quick check-in we were escorted to site 13 with FHUs. This site is technically a back-in but our host brought us around by the swing set to make it an easy pull-through. The utilities worked well and we got 3 bars on Verizon. There are a lot of mature trees. They have a nice shower house complete with laundry. This CG was well kept and a great choice for an overnight stay as we headed to our home base near St. Louis, MO.

People are very nice and the campgrounds are clean. Plenty of site room and clean and updated shower and washing machines. Rates have gone up to $40 per night
