## Overview

 Sagehen Creek Campground is located on the shores of the scenic Sagehen Reservoir at an elevation of 4997 feet. Visitors enjoy boating, fishing, exploring Joe's Creek Trail, as well as utilizing the non-motorized Sagehen Reservoir Trail. 
## Recreation

 Sagehen Reservoir offers great boating, canoeing, and rainbow trout fishing. A boat ramp and dock are located within the campground.There is a 15 mph speed limit on the reservoir. Hiking, biking, horse, and ATV trails are abundant in the area, including Joe's Creek Trail, which begins not far from the campground. The Sagehen Reservoir Trail, a 4-mile loop around the lake, offers great fishing spots, beautiful viewpoints and wildlife watching opportunities for hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders. The Sagehen and KYAOTT ATV Trail Systems can be accessed near the reservoir, offering more than 35 miles of trails for ATVs and motorcycles, but hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders can enjoy these trails as well.
## Natural Features

 The campground is situated in a forest of towering Ponderosa pine, Engelmann spruce, Douglas fir, and grand fir, which provide plentiful shade in most sites. Some sites afford lake views. Summer temperatures range from 80 to 90-degree days to cooler nights. A variety of berries and mushrooms can be found throughout the area. Local wildlife includes deer, elk, black bear, goshawk, woodpeckers, and boreal owls.

The Best Camping Near Ola, Idaho

We were able to find an open RV spot in the middle of the week at this campground. Normally, weekends are booked solid but they do have some first come first serve sites available. You just have to check the Reservation site for campgrounds. We were able to find the perfect site, nestled in the trees, away from other campers. It was nice and quiet.  They do not have hook ups so it is pretty much dry camping. They do have restrooms and potable water around the campgrounds. The roads are nicely paved and the sites are labeled. If you reserved a site on-line, they will have your name on the site when you arrive :-) I loved that I was able to ride laps around the campgrounds with my bike as well as walk a few laps around as well :-) The fishing was great for us. Some spots were pretty weedy. You just have to find the open spots to fish for trout. They do not have firewood here, but they have firepits and a picnic table at each campsite. We definitely enjoyed our stay here and would camp here again! 

Dense Forest Camping with our RV

I love this campground. It is fairly secluded and not many know about it, so it never gets too crowded. The lake is beautiful and only small motor boats are allowed, so the water stays smooth. Great for fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and swimming. On one side of the reservoir there are some large rocks and a deeper area great for rock jumping. Some cool hikes nearby as well. All that being said, there are no showers or flushing toilets, and everything is pack-out, so beware.

It is a nice place and there is a lot to do if you have a boat. There isn’t anything around so take what you need and just enjoy the simple life while you’re there. The road is dirt for some 10 miles to get you there, and it was washboard at times. The campground is clean and the hosts are really nice. We went when the caterpillars were hatching so they were everywhere but it wasn’t a big deal. We had a really quiet spot. All sites were big.
