If I was at the prime age to collect social security, kick back and not want to worry for anything, than I would definitely high-tail it to Woods-N-Water. This elderly population has perfectly manicured micro-lawns around their heavily anchored and very well patio’d RV domiciles. If you do find yourself this way and in need of a long driveway to call your home for the night, then Woods-N-Water will definitely have you covered with all the basic connections (30/50 amp electric, water, sewage, etc.). 

The community is actually quite warm and welcoming (perhaps it is my premature greying that endeared me to this community) and the location itself, while being somewhat (completely) out-of-the-way, if you did decide to stop here for a spell, there’s plenty to explore and do from bird-watching, kayaking and visiting the many natural springs that this part of Florida is very well known for– at the top of the list and not too far distant from this well-manicured campground is Blue Springs, Alexander Springs and of course, the very famous (and let’s be honest, just fun to attempt to pronounce) Weeki Wachee Springs. 

Of course, there’s an absolute TON to explore, see and do in and around Mt. Dora, from the Farmer’s Markets and top-end local restaurants to all the natural wildlife and small boutique shopping that can be done here (but obviously not at the same time). Insider’s tip? Woods-N-Water actually bucks up against Lake Saunders, which has some pretty amazing fishing for you, especially if you are a fan of lake-caught bass! That said, we dropped our kayaks in this oversized pond and were richly rewarded by all the amazing waterfoul we came into contact with. 

Back to the campground, they’ve got free boat docking and a small pool that they call ‘resort-style’, community clubhouse with laundry, showers, computer (with internet, because, that’s how they call it here), dog-walking area (in fact, I think it’s a requirement to have a pet, because like everyone had at least one, but by my count, many had 2-3), concrete pull-through pads and, of course, for this particular community in particular, shuffleboard. Hey, don’t knock it till you’ve tried it! And on Fridays there’s a community competition that goes until late (8pm or so) with plenty of Mai Tais! There’s karaoke at least one night a week and there’s even a wood-working studio here. What else could you want?
