Meow!

This is one of the sweetest spots in the Everglades. It sits on the boundary of the national park and looks out across the 10,000 Islands and it's right at the mouth of the Gulf of Mexico. I often paddled from inland waters (creeks and swamps) all the way out to the Gulf and then back in. This spot is generally the last stop before I head back inland. It is reservable by permits only and is a popular spot in the north end of the park, mainly because there just are many land sites available.

The views from here are incredible and the night sky amazing (despite the glow of Miami in the distant). The beach can be challenging to launch from if the winds are kicking, but usually you can find a spot to push off. There is ample wind right on the beach that can keep the bugs at bay.
