Great Intracoastal Access Here @ Riverwood Park Campground

If you're RV'ing or towing a camper, then this particular RV location just off of Route 1, which parallels the Atlantic Ocean here in Florida just south of Edgewater and within a stone’s throw of Canaveral National Seashore, then Riverwood Park Campground may just work for you.

Quick point of caution: if you’ve got a tent you’re looking to set up and camp out in nature, then unfortunately, this location won’t accommodate your travel plans as there’s no tent camping.

With ample side-by-side parallel and elongated parking lanes for your parking pleasure, a good dozen or so of these slots plant you right in front of a gorgeous view of the intercoastal, all of the sites come equipped with the typical 30 / 50 amp electrical hook-ups, waste disposal and water connections. There’s the standard picnic table, garbage receptacles and even a few community BBQ grills scattered about.

While the hosts apparently live on-site or nearby, I never found them to be present, but rather, it seems as though some of the residents actually run this place on the owner’s behalf. Regardless, pricing is offered by the night, week and month.

Overall, the community is inviting and friendly, but generally keeps to itself. As far as I could tell, there’s no planned community activities, apart from the end-of-day gathering at the local cantina, which is BYOB and where all the transient locals basically sit around and boast about their day catching fish. Not bad, if that’s what you are up to.

While there’s not a ton of amenities to pick and choose from, this location does come with BBQ, intercoastal front access for your kayak/ canoe and a lively on-site storyteller named Ted, who spins his yarns for hours on end at the‘clubhouse’ which is located right behind the main office.

The restroom and bathing facilities, which also serve as laundry room, are just OK, but could use a serious upgrade. Near this RV despot, you do have access to Turnbull Hammock Conservation Area, which is great for a long hike or even a dip in the water with your kayak(just bring your insect repellent!).

Insider’s tip? The big draw here on the central east coast side of Florida is Cape Canaveral itself, so if you time it right, you’ll have a spectacular camping experience, complete with a rocket or satellite being launched into outer space. Now that’s far out!

Happy Camping!
