Beautiful Spring, prefer Juniper Springs campsites

When in Ocala National Forest, we stayed at Salt Springs, Juniper Springs and Alexander Springs. Heads up!The different sites within the forest are operated by different concessionaires and you have to pay to use (even day use) them individually! If you’re camping, you don’t have to pay day use fee. If you want to see multiple sites and ok with moving camp, you can save a few bucks

Pros

  • palmettos :)
  • hot showers
  • Our favorite spring was Alexander springs! Alexander Springs seemed much more natural and scenic compared to Juniper but it’s neat to see them all :) At Salt Springs, we saw crabs and fish in the water...very neat!

Cons

  • sites are not very private - Juniper is better for this.
  • only full day canoe rental at $45 due to COVID! We made it a full day especially since Juniper Springs wasn’t offering canoe rentals (again, COVID). If you’re staying at camp though they give you half off the canoe rental
  • bathrooms were overall meh, kinda messy. We were visiting over a weekend though so camp was full.
  • there were some active vultures :O
