An RV Sardine Can Parking Lot

The easiest way for me to describe Cozy Corner RV Lodge would be for you to imagine the smallest McDonald’s that you have ever seen, one of those with a complete circular drive-in and drive-out that you can either park diagonally, go in and order your McMeal, or simply go through the drive-thru to place your order. OK, now cut off about 1/3 of that initial semi-circular driving experience and that’s basically the size of this parking lot for RVs that resemble more of a can of slanted sardines that surround the small main office (the McDonald’s in my analogy, minus the drive-thru window).

About this paved camping lot specifically, in all, there’s just 16 tightly packed trailer ‘parking spaces’ with little-to-no room between the sites … literally, you could get out of your RV and stretch both your arms out and you would be touching an RV on either side. Each diagonal slot has level, paved pads with a distinct piece of concrete for a patio and the thinnest of green grass strips between each site. The only real amenity at this place is the his / her bathrooms located at the office, both offering key coded locks to get in, providing an extra layer of security, which is much needed as this RV depot sits right adjacent to a busy 4-lane roadway. Please note though that the women’s restroom was out-of-order when we were visiting.

Amenities: his / her shower and bathroom facilities, coin-operated laundry and kitchenette, WiFi (barely) and Cable (for a fee), dog park (which is, um, basically the grass strips in between each slot or the corners of the property) as well as flat concrete back-in RV pads with full hook-ups (30 / 50 amp electric, water and sewage).

Insider’s tips: (1) All the spaces at Cozy Corner RV Lodge are so narrow and short, you will definitely want to call ahead and get measurements to ensure that your RV will not only fit in the slot, but will actually make it into and out of the parking lot; (2) There is zero privacy at this place, apart from the sliver of space that exists between each parked RV, so bear that in mind and bring hanging sheets or other means to create your own privacy if this is important to you; (3) Unless there is a good reason why you need to stay here, I would highly recommend checking out one of the campgrounds like The Hideaway Retreat nearer the beach, which offers not only fantastic views of and access to the Gulf, but additionally, much more space as well as an array of amenities; and (4) When you get tired of foraging through your mini-fridge or opening up your cooler to figure out that next meal, I highly recommend checking out nearby Stewby’s for some pretty good local seafood, Parlor Donuts for some OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD fresh made exotic donuts along with some pretty amazing coffee or Brotula’s for some AMAZING King, Snow or Dungeness Crab with outstanding views of the water.

Happy Camping!
