Clean, family and pet friendly
A group of 3 families stayed a week here. We had two popups and one travel trailer. We used the campground as a base to explore Rocky Mountain National Park and Roosevelt National Forest. It took us about 5 minutes to get to Estes Park and an additional 10 minutes into Rocky Mountain National Park. You are basically in Roosevelt National Forest.
This isn't the typical Jellystone Campground. While it has all the typical amenities (pool, mini-golf, jump pad, ga-ga ball, basketball, etc.), the campsites are more private. Because it is built into a hill, this isn't just a field like some Jellystones are. There are also quite a few mature trees. The managers and workers were very friendly and the place was kept quite clean. The showers are regularly cleaned and I did not have to wait for showers (except when my own teenage nieces got there ahead of me, but not anybody else).
Here are a few issues we had: 1. Not enough power at the campsite. We could not run our air conditioning nor could the other campers with us because they did not have the round bigger plugs, just regular plugs. There must be some sites with this ability but we were not placed on them despite telling them we had campers. 2. Tough walk up the hill from ranger station and bathrooms. Especially if you've been drinking or hiking all day. 3. Bears. I saw bears twice in one night in our campsite. This is not the fault of management, but be careful! They were easily scared off and caused no damage other than giving me a slight stroke.
In summary, I'd stay there again. I was hesitant to stay at first because it was a "Jellystone", but it was better than the previous ones I'd stayed in and not as crowded or busy.
