You'll pass several free dispersed campsites along this long mountain road as you make your way to this pay-campground. A river runs alongside the campground. There wasn't a camphost during my 2-night stay, but a ranger did his round each day around noon. Vault toilets were well-maintained. No cell service.

Sites were a bit close together but it was still in a beautiful area right on the river. We were very jealous of site #7 it was by far the best of them. On the river, and backed up to trees and a rock face and the most secluded. The rest were sort of out in the open. Definitely far from help so bring some bear spray because we would see some recent bear activity and no cell service. Each site has a food locker which was very convenient along with a fire ring and a picnic table. The grounds had vault toilets but it was very very clean. Lots to do around white river national forest and I would stay here again!

This is a really nice campground, right on the river. Sites are a little bit close together, but beautiful.

Outstanding camping experience. Small campground on the river with plenty of trees for relaxing in nature. The grounds were clean and organized and the camp host, Doug, was exceptional. Highly recommended.

Stay here and you'll be ~1 mile from the start of the Missouri Lakes hike. One of CO's best.

This is a decent campground. It is next a big creek and has some good 4x4 trails near it. I thought some of the sites were a little close to each other. There are trees between the sites, but you can see right through them. The sites on the creek side were better, but unfortunately they were all taken when I arrived. It has all the basic amenities - picnic table, fire ring, bathrooms. There are dispersed sites along Homestake Rd (703) as well, which is the road you take to the campground. Past the campground there’s the Missouri Lakes Trailhead for hiking. There’s also a whole network of 4x4 trails which have excellent views and a ghost town called Holy Cross City. It’s really just one building, but still interesting. I recommend bringing a map if you go off roading on the trails because we totally got lost.

Gold Park is a great place to stay if you want trails and high alpine lakes at your fingertips. We stayed here so we could hike Fancy Lake and the Missouri Lakes, both of which are less than 5 miles away. Gorgeous high alpine lakes. The campsite has pit toilets and a great host. We really enjoyed our 3 day stay! Be sure to take advantage of the stunning hikes nearby. An easy drive from Vail or Leadville.

Perfect place to find privacy. This place was a ways down a dirt road but like the other review said there were plenty of spots for dispersed camping along the road for a back up plan but for my 8 year old a toilet and a campfire was a must. The camp host is super nice and keeps a great campsite. The pit toilet was clean and did not smell. My 8 year old actually said it was the best one she saw all week and for a newbie camper on her first trip that says a lot! We loved this site because we were able to hike along the creek and sit on the boulders and watch the fly fisherman and then hike up the hill on the other side of this campsite. Lots to explore to keep the kids busy.

Stayed at a pony site for extra privacy ;) Beautiful views, stars and wildlife.
