After spending a few nights in generic RV parks Atherton Creek is a breath of fresh air. I think there is only one or two full hookup sites available so the rest of the sites are just campsites.
The views of the lake are wonderful, the host is helpful and the campground is quite small. Despite its limited number of sites we had no problem finding a prime site. This is due to the somewhat, out of the way, location. The road is bumpy but paved.
Highly recommended.
Recommended due to its convenient location and accommodating facilities. There are even trees to provide some shade.
Outstanding camping experience. Small campground on the river with plenty of trees for relaxing in nature. The grounds were clean and organized and the camp host, Doug, was exceptional. Highly recommended.
Stay here and you'll be ~1 mile from the start of the Missouri Lakes hike. One of CO's best.
I've stayed here twice; once via tenting and another with a yurt full of fun people. Both stays were wonderful. The facilities are clean, convenient and easily accessible. Golden Gate Canyon park has loads of moderate hiking trails with beautiful pine and Aspen views. Highly recommended.
