Nice but not very secluded

We loved this campsite! It was gorgeous and well- maintained. The camp host was extremely nice and available if we needed anything. The sites were nice and shaded, and the site was close to town and Eleven Mile Canyon and other hiking/ attractions. However, the sites were pretty close to the road and you could hear any car that drove by. The camp sites were pretty close together ad well, so you could hear most everything going on in other sites. Overall, for an un-dispersed campsite, it was a great spot!

Blue Mountain NFCG

Arrived on Sunday and had the campground almost to ourselves. Dry camping and pit toilets, but we’re in a solar powered converted Van, so we were glamping. Beautiful Mountain Views. Close to 11 mile canyon scenic drive/hike & popular for fishing.

Blue Mtn/Black Skies

Typical loop campground. Water available. Pit toilets clean. Direct access to trailhead. Sites well spaced, but some are more like pull-offs on the side of the road.

Great visit

Online reservations showed most sites booked, but on a weekday in September I had almost the entire campground to myself!  A short approximately 3 mile out and back trail starting at the camp site takes you to a nice overlook of the South Platte River as well as to the Riverside campground on the river.  In the campground I had consistent LTE data connection via Verizon and not far up the trail was getting 5G.

Clean and charming

This campsite was awesome. It was Fourth of July weekend and everything was booked but there happen to be a cancellation at this site and we got it for two nights. Super super clean campsites and so were the bathrooms. The camp host was great, she was very friendly and welcoming. Also my phone (Verizon) had a couple bars. Will definitely come back.

Great campsite!

My friends and I reserved two sites across the road from each other, and we had virtually half the campsite to ourselves! The sites are all nicely spread out, so you don't feel like you're camping on top of one another. There were lovely trees to provide lots of shade from the hot Colorado sun. Some fun hiking from the campsite, so you don't even have to drive to the trailhead!

Spacious yet intimate

This campground is on the backside of Eleven Mile Canyon and is a quieter option if you're wanting less road traffic. Please note that you can still hear some traffic nose, but it's significantly less than sites in the canyon. We love that the campground was smaller, only 20ish sites I believe, but the sites were spacious and offered to ability to spread out a bit. This was good because my husband purchased a new tent...the biggest tent in the world possibly...and I was very worried about having space to set it up. Alas, we found the perfect spot and it even helped the tent not look so obnoxious. We stayed over 4th of July weekend and it full but never felt crowded. The vaults were very clean. The host was delightful as were her entire family. There's a nice hike over the ridge that will take you to Riverside campground (we've stayed there previously...also nice) and cross the road to the river. We saw some deer and did hear that a bear visited our campground while we were there but didn't cause any trouble. My only complaint was that firewood purchased from the host was $8 a bundle. I would suggest getting some for far less elsewhere. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely return in the future.

Great spot near fishing

Enjoyed our weekend at blue mountain campground. Were able to make a reservation 3 weeks before with plenty of spots still available. Camp hosts were friendly and courteous. 2 vault toilets in the camp that were well maintained. Large sites for tenting or a camper. All sites had picnic table and fire pit ring. Some road noise can still be heard in the site.

One of the highlights was walking to the campground entrance to watch the sunset each night. Spent a day fishing and hiking the 11 mile canyon overlook trail.

Hard rock trailhead located in the campground
