Great campground near the redwood giants

Albee Creek is a great little campground accessed via a bumpy but beautiful ride through old-growth redwood forest just off the Avenue of the Giants in Humboldt Redwoods State Park. We were towing a teardrop trailer, and though a sign said "trailers and RVs not advised," we and others made it just fine by taking it slow. The campground itself was clean and well-maintained. There are many sites under the redwoods but most there seemed to offer little privacy. We were in site 22, facing the meadow, and had a beautiful view during sunset and sunrise as well as prime stargazing. Personally I found 22 and 23 best in terms of privacy and views, but site 25, though pretty open, backs right up to the meadow itself. The frogs from the creek sing you to sleep, and there were deer that visited the meadow in the evenings. Nice hiking nearby and there's a great day use beach on the Eel River at the California Federation of Women's Clubs Grove. The vibe at the campground was very mellow with lots of families and kids riding bikes/scooters around camp.
