NOT A RESORT

Aside from the heat, we've spent our time discovering and visiting places that many people only dream of—at least, that was true until today. Over the past twelve years, we've traveled across most of the county and even worked at a few RV parks. Some of those places truly deserved to be called'resorts.' That brings me to my review of our current five-day stop. I also tried to cancel this reservation because our plans changed and we needed to head in the opposite direction for our next stop. The office told me cancellations aren’t allowed after 14 days. I emailed them on day 13 and got a reply saying I’d be charged a small cancellation fee, which was fine with me. But then I got another email from someone higher up, saying they would give me a rain check or I could lose$302.12. Now, back to my review of The Sedona View RV Park Resort. Facility and Site Limitations* No shade or trees: The sites are just open gravel with no natural cover or protection from the Arizona sun. It reached 108 degrees this week.* Sparse amenities: The park is missing basic resort features like picnic tables, cable TV hookups, toilets, and a resort-style swimming pool.* Uneven pads: Many of the inner spots are level, but some of the outer spots take extra work to stabilize your RV. We had to use ten leveling pads on one side and three on the other just to get close to level.* Dog Parks: Most dog parks have artificial turf, but this one just has dirt. It was muddy at some point, judging by the dozen dog prints left in the dry dirt. Other travelers have said it’s basically a gravel parking lot on a hilltop, but the view of the valley below is great.* It seems like a lot of people live here full-time. I’ve already seen three different school buses go by.* To wrap up, we’ll probably be leaving this resort since it doesn’t live up to its name.
