Easy to access and quiet
Easy spot to camp for a night, with pretty good views. Lots and lots of shell casings and related trash, so not great for little kids.

Pretty exposed. No shade. Lots of fire ants so I wouldn’t suggest tent camping here. I have the option of car camping. So that works. And there’s a nearby rest area on I-17 to use the restroom, though it’s a bit of a drive. Right near montezuma’s well which is one of my favorite monuments. It’s hot. Be prepared.
There’s an RV stuck in a ditch blocking this entire entrance! If you’re in a camper van it’s a maybe but definitely not in any sort of bigger rig!
Good boondocking. Great location.
There are lots of established spots on the forest lands in this area, but nothing that we could reach in our 26ft motorhome. So we settled on this spot, which works fine for an overnight but not a place I'd want to stay for fun. Easy access from the road, but watch for ruts from water runoff.
There are many little nooks and corners here at this particular spot where you can pull in and not feel like you’re crowding others. There was only one other camper here when we stayed, and we could barely see each other.
Sadly there is a lot of shooting debris here (casings and target trash). Seems to be typical for Arizona public lands, unfortunately.
Lots of traffic up and down Montezuma Well Rd, surprisingly. Cars and trucks and trailers zoomed up and down the road late into the night and starting early in the morning.
Quiet at night, and good cell reception. Lots of biting bugs and prickly bushes.
