Free at a Cost
It's a shame we had a less than ideal experience here, because we love a good free spot on the water with amenities. First the good, its FREE! No reservation needed, simply pull up and enjoy. First come, first serve. The site we stayed at was level with a nice gravel pad with a fire pit & picnic table with a great view out the rear of the camper of the river for watching the boats pass. We stayed here in mid February and the water spickets were inoperable, not sure if they get turned on during warmer months or if they are entirely out of order. Now the not so good, the trash bins were overflowing, the pit toilet was revolting, and we observed multiple shady vehicles randomly parking for extended periods without ever exiting their vehicle. Now the really bad, at around 2:30 in the morning someone drove through the park and fired a shot. It scared us pretty good, but we stayed the rest of the night. If you're reading this review I would encourage you to stay, but just know what you're going into.
