    Sanders Cove Campground is on the banks of Pat Mayse Lake in the Red River Basin in Lamar County, Texas. Easy access to developed park areas has made the lake a haven for families who enjoy camping, picnicking, swimming, boating, fishing and other outdoor recreation.

    The lake provides excellent opportunities for boating, swimming and fishing. Anglers fish for largemouth bass, white crappie, sunfish, striped bass and channel and flathead catfish, among other species. Hunting is a very popular activity in the area. The surrounding lands are managed for upland game and whitetail deer. Other species present include fox squirrel, gray squirrel, bobwhite quail, mourning dove, cottontail rabbit, raccoon and fox. Opossum, beaver, mink, skunk and nutria are also present. The lake also provides resting and feeding habitat for migratory waterfowl. A few miles north of the project area are the famed Red River Bottoms where waterfowl congregate in impressive numbers.

    Located in scenic southeastern Oklahoma, this long-established recreation destination offers family fun, boating, abundant fishing opportunities and spectacular sunset views.

    Fill up on drinks and snacks at the marina before renting one of the 24-foot pontoons and boating the day away. Or, bring your own boat to one of the marina's 56 slips and refuel. After a full day of boating, stretch your legs with a hike along Hugo Lake where you'll see countless species of birds along the winding trails. Benches are also scattered throughout the trails for your convenience.

    Lodging includes both primitive and resort cabins, a hospitality house and tent camping. The 16 resort cabins have spacious living areas, two bedrooms with one queen-sized, two twin beds and a sleeper sofa, a full bathroom, and a full kitchen including coffee maker, microwave and service for eight. Enjoy the view from your deck or curl up in front of the fireplace while watching Dish Network TV.

    The primitive cabins offer a choice of two twin beds or one queen bed, though linens are not supplied. Seven of the 10 cabins come with a full bath located inside the cabin, and a comfort station located within walking distance from the cabins offers hot showers and restroom facilities. Each primitive cabin comes with heating and air conditioning, as well as a screened in back porch to enjoy the surroundings. Pets are allowed in all cabins for an additional fee.

    Camp along the water's edge at the park and awake to nature right at your front door. You might even catch a glimpse of the park's wildlife including squirrels, deer, raccoons and geese as you sip your morning coffee. Bow hunting is permitted in and around most of the park areas. Kiamichi Park features an archery practice range and a 3,000-acre Quality Deer Management Area. Wildlife around the lake includes waterfowl, bobwhite quail, dove, whitetail deer, mink, fox and beaver. This large park and it's miles of paved roads are ideal for biking, jogging, hiking, and sight-seeing. There are also wooded trails for exploring and horseback riding. Equestrian trail riding is accessible for dayriding from Bobcat Road or Raccoon Road. Equestrian camping is available on Raccoon Road, which offers thirteen horse stalls.
