Fishing the Hoback River and riding trails through the Gros Ventre mountains are two reasons campers return to this Forest Service campground along Highway 189/191, roughly 45 minutes from Grand Teton National Park. The campground sits directly beside the Hoback River, and sites closest to the water fill up first on a first-come, first-served basis. It can fill quickly in summer. Those planning a Grand Teton summit or a multi-day backcountry trip through the area will find this a functional staging point, and campers interested in places to camp near Bondurant have several nearby options within the national forest.
The campground has around 12 numbered sites with picnic tables and fire rings, plus additional lettered sites that appear to be tent-only. One site with electrical hookup is available near the camp host for $25 per night; standard sites run $15, with a $7 fee for an extra vehicle. Amenities include pit toilets, bear boxes, dumpsters, and firewood for purchase. Note that at least one recent visitor reported the water may not be potable, so confirming current conditions before arrival is worth the effort. Fire rings sit above ground rather than recessed, which some campers find limits heat output on cold nights.
Highway noise is the most consistent complaint across reviews. Sites near the river provide some buffer from road sound. The camp hosts draw consistent praise for attentiveness, and the vault toilets are frequently noted as well-maintained. Nearby, Kozy Campground and North Granite Creek Road Dispersed, Teton NF offer alternatives for those who don't find a site here. Hoback works best for anglers, trail riders, and anyone using the area as a base for larger Teton-region objectives.
