## Overview

Situated at the confluence of three waterways near Mount Rainier, La Wis Wis is nestled under a canopy of towering Douglas firs and red cedars. The handful of sites that dot the riverbank enjoy the most sunshine.  
  
With an abundance of activities nearby, La Wis Wis is a popular destination for long-stay camping. Its proximity to Mount Rainier National Park makes it an excellent base for exploring all of the area's natural wonders. 

## Recreation

Hikers can easily access the Blue Hole Trail and Purcell Falls Trail from La Wis Wis.  
  
Anglers can fish for rainbow trout, cutthroat trout and whitefish at either Butter Creek or Skate Creek. 

## Facilities

La Wis Wis is ideal for tents, car campers and truck campers with a slide-in. The Hatchery Loop sites can accommodate RVs, but navigation through other parts of the campground may be difficult due to narrow roadways and large trees.  
  
The campground features 122 sites, including walk-in tent camping. Both vault and flush toilets are available. Picnic tables, picnic shelters and grills are provided.  
  
Drinking water is available on-site at the main part of the camp. Campers staying at the Hatchery Loop need to bring potable water or get water at the main site.

Located in southwest Washington State, the Gifford Pinchot National Forest encompasses 1.3 million acres and includes the 110,000-acre Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument, established by Congress in 1982.  
  
La Wis Wis is located in the Tatoosh Wilderness area of the Cowlitz Valley Ranger District. The campground sits where the Ohanapecosh River, Cowlitz River and Purcell Creek meet.  
  
The campground features old-growth forest and opportunities to observe a variety of wildlife.

## Overview

Walupt Lake Campground offers scenic views of Mt. Adams and the surrounding forest on the west end of Walupt Lake. The sites here provide plenty of privacy and ample shade form the surrounding hemlock, cedar and fir trees.   
  
  
Walupt Lake Campground is a great choice for visitors looking to fish, swim, boat or explore the numerous hiking, biking and horseback riding trails in the area.

## Recreation

Anglers can fish for brook, rainbow and cutthroat trout in Walupt Lake. Swimming and the use of motorized and non-motorized boats is also permitted.   
  
Numerous trailheads can be accessed from this campground. Walupt Lake Trail, Nannie Ridge Trail and Coleman Weedpatch Trail are popular hiking and equestrian trails. 

## Facilities

Walupt Lake Campground offers some tent-only sites, but standard sites have gravel spurs that can accommodate RVs between 20-40 feet. Each walk-in tent site along the lake shore has a small beach area.  
  
  
  
Campsites include picnic tables and campfire rings. Vault toilets are provided on the premises.  
  
  
  
A horse camp is adjacent to this campground.

## Natural Features

Walupt Lake spans 384 acres and is the second largest lake in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. The clear mountain waters are popular with anglers who come here to cast for Rainbow and Cutthroat Trout.   
  
This campground is surrounded by the Goat Rocks Wilderness, named for the rugged peaks where numerous mountain goats are found. Scattered throughout the area are alpine meadows, lakes and ponds.

Walupt Lake's location between Mt. Adams, Mt. Rainier and Mount St. Helens makes it possible to explore any of these areas on a day trip.

Reconnect with nature and the beauty of the Pacific Northwest! This tiny cabin has .5 bath with heat, kitchenette, toilet, private hot tub, Queen and twin bed , sleeper sofa and shared outdoor shower. We are located right at base-camp for Mt Rainier and a stones-throw to small grocery stores and pubs. Private access to the Nisqually River and a 10 minute drive to the entrance of the National Forest. Everything you could want for group camping, a romantic getaway, or climbing/hiking Mt Rainier!

The space

There is currently limited linen service (sheets/blankets/bath towels) provided so please be prepared to bring those items with you (We reflect this in a lower cleaning fee after your stay) . Mattresses, pillows and disposable covers are provided in the lofts. These are tiny cabins on the side of a Mountain so "glamping" is the name of the game! We will send out reminders prior to your stay.

We have a convection oven perfect for small easy cooking, a two burner induction cooktop, microwave, kettle and mini-fridge. There are napkins, paper plates, cutlery and cups.



Guest access

The entrance to the Nisqually River can be found a short walk down the road.

As you exit the driveway of the cabins, take a left. Keep walking a very short distance until you see small entryway on the left side entering the forest. There you will see a faded sign with blue letters that says “Pack it out”. This walk leads you to a fork that breaks into 3 pathways. Take the center route for the easiest path to the river.

Please keep in mind the river changes frequently and consider bringing good shoes to easily traverse rocks and fallen branches. In the early spring it is best to bring shoes you don’t mind getting wet or that you can take off easily.

Once there, if there are no clouds, you can see the summit. It is a beautiful neighborhood secret and probably our favorite part when visiting!

There is a shared propane heated outdoor shower available. Instructions for use will be sent at check-in.

The Rainier Retreat is .25 acres in Paradise Estates at the base of Paradise of Mount Rainier in Ashford, WA.

\-The Rainier Retreat is less than 5 miles from the entrance of Paradise.

\-Horseback riding is available at E Z Times Horse Rides in Elbe just a 15 minute drive.

\-Enjoy live music and ice cream at The Rainier Basecamp Bar and Grill, just a quick 5 minute drive (check their Facebook for current hours).

\-If you are in to off-roading, ATV, dirt bikes, quads, shooting then visit Elbe Hills, just 13 minutes away.

\-Many hiking trails are available throughout, come see all the beauty of Mount Rainier and the Nisqually River.

\-Lake Holiday and Big Creek are just a few minute walk away. Enjoy the playground, fishing, or jumping off the dock in the summer.

The Rainier Retreat has a hookup for power and water for your camping trailer, or a spout if you would prefer to tent camp. It also has an outhouse on the property that is cleaned weekly. The property is fenced on three sides to give you privacy from neighbors. You are allowed to have a contained bon fire (please check for local burn bans) and there is a wood picnic table and chairs for your usage.

Dogs are welcome! Please be respectful of the neighborhood (and the lot) by cleaning up after them. Please also take your trash with you when you depart!

The Rainier Retreat

Paradise Ridge is a private group campground offering both privacy and proximity, less than one mile from the Nisqually/Paradise entrance to Mount Rainier.

Paradise Ridge Private Campground

## Overview

Iron Creek Campground sits near the confluence of Iron Creek and the Cispus River. This large campground winds through a forest of old-growth Douglas firs, cedars and hemlock. Lush vegetation and ample space between sites offers excellent privacy. 

## Recreation

Iron Creek provides great fishing for cutthroat trout, whitefish and rainbow trout.   
  
Visitors can stroll along the .3-mile Iron Creek Old Growth Trail and weave through the forest and along the Cispus River, or continue on a longer walk down the Iron Creek Campground Trail. This trail is barrier-free and designed to accommodate any age or skill level, with benches and plenty of places to stop along the way.

## Facilities

There are 99 single and double family sites that are back-in and paved. Level spurs provide easy RV parking. Picnic tables, campfire rings and drinking water are provided.

Iron Creek Campground

The Yurt is by far the most secluded of the four huts within the Mount Tahoma Trail System. A cozy studio in the wilderness surrounded by trees with easy access for a day hike to Griffin Mountain, you'll have to really hoof it through the snow to get there.

The lower parking lot has a pit toilet facility for use before starting on your trek. From the lower parking lot, hike uphill for two miles, and arrive at a junction where the groomed road veers off to the right and a trail in the woods heads left. To the left is the Lower Yurt Trail. Take a left and head into the dense forest, across a footbridge and through the quiet forest.

After 1.64 miles on the Lower Yurt Trail, stay right and continue for another 1.51 miles. Here you will come to the junction that provides access back up the hill to Snow Bowl and High Hut. Stay to the left and continue on the forest road for 0.82 miles. Here you will come to the trail for Griffin Mountain.

Take the road to the right for another 0.27 miles to the Yurt. Keep an eye out to the west and you will see Snow Bowl Hut in the distance.

The Yurt can also be accessed by taking the forest roads up towards Snow Bowl. From the top saddle on the way to Snow Bowl, take the road to the left, and stay to the right for 2.42 miles to access the Yurt.

There is a day hike possible from the Yurt to Griffin Mountain, which is 3.8 miles round trip from the Yurt and provides excellent views of Mount Rainier! All huts have a wood stove, oven, stovetop, bunk beds/mattresses, outdoor pit toilet, and cooking utensils.

Reservations must be obtained to stay overnight. Obtain a map for a $10 donation, or at Whittaker's Outfitters in Ashford and ask questions Saturdays and Sundays 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. during the winter season. Most weekend reservations for the winter season are filled during the REI Gala in November.

The Cascade Mountains run down the center of Washington like a spine. A handful of highways cross the crest in parallel lines, all running from the evergreens of the west side to the wide open grasslands of the east. Camping in Washington is available along every route, like the state parks that dot I-90 and North Cascades National Park that hugs Highway 20. 


Take Highway 2 over Stevens Pass to find old-growth trees around each spot at Money Creek Campground, plus a view of a classic metal train trestle. Fill each day with hikes through the Cascade forest, perhaps on a stretch of the Pacific Crest Trail where it passes the Stevens Pass Mountain Resort ski area. Head east of Stevens Pass to verdant Lake Wenatchee State Park for wooded campsites near the shores of a placid mountain lake and a stable inside the park offering trail rides through the summer. This site has isolated camp sites with roughly 5 acres per site on private land. Some sites are walk in some are drive in. All have pit toilets, fire pit and a small bench. This listing is for site #1 which has drive up access for 4wd vehicles and higher clearance 2wd vehicles. Subarus outback or equivalent are a perfect fit. The property features a seasonal pond and plenty of old logging roads for morning walks.



Three Hills

## Overview

Tower Rock Campground is named for the impressive pillar that looms nearby and offers semi-private sites shaded by a mix of cedar, Douglas fir and maple.

## Recreation

A privately-owned trout pond offers fishing nearby, but anglers can also cast for brook trout in the Cispus River.  
  
The Burley Mountain trailhead is located off of Forest Road 28, about 4 miles from the Highway 23 intersection. From this trailhead, visitors can hike to multiple waterfalls, including Angel Falls. 

## Facilities

Tower Rock provides easy RV camping with paved parking spurs that can accommodate vehicles between 20 to 30 feet.  
  
  
Drinking water, picnic tables and campfire rings are provided. This facility has vault toilets.

Tower Rock Campground is located about a quarter mile from the south bank of the Cispus River on the east side of Mount St. Helens. The terrain is mostly meadow and mountainside, as the campground is surrounded by mountains on almost every side.

Tower Rock Campground

## Overview

North Fork Elk Group sits alongside the Cispus River in the North Fork Campground, shaded by a dense canopy of pine, fir and cedar trees. The facility is typically open from mid-May through late September, and is one one of three group sites within the campground.   
  
North Fork is situated between three of Washington's most impressive mountains: Mount St. Helens, Mt. Adams and Mt. Rainier. The variety of recreational activities and the diverse natural beauty draws many visitors to this area. 

## Recreation

North Fork Elk Group makes a great base camp for a variety of activities. Hikers, mountain bikers and OHV riders can access the nearby multi-use Valley Trail. From this trail, OHV riders can enjoy a network of over 50 miles of OHV trails.   
  
The North Fork Loop trail is open to foot traffic and can also be accessed in this area.   
  
Anglers can fish the Cispus River for brook trout, steelhead and salmon. 

## Facilities

This tent-only site has six tent pads and will accommodate up to 30 people. It's secluded with gated access and offers picnic tables, grills and drinking water.   
  
There is a host on-site and firewood is available for sale.

North Fork is part of the Cowlitz Valley Ranger District, which is located in the northernmost portion of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.

North Fork Elk Group Camp

Come and pitch your tent in private next to the river! Parking available in upper area. Please look for visitor parking sign. Then a walk over a bridge, head towards the river to pitch your tent where you find a good spot. Porta-potty unit is available. Small truck camper located on higher bank. Not available right now but will soon be available to rent. Close to Mount Rainer, logging roads and drone flying allowed. Eagles, geese, ducks , kingfishers and even a blue heron greet us often. Elk, deer and other wildlife also visit. Located on the Tilton river.

River area is rocky. Sandy spots in sections and upper bank under trees is not as rocky. Please feel free to tent yourself where you find comfortable down by river.

Campfires allowed within local regulations.

Pack it in, pack it out site. Nothing provided. Phone service can be limited in area depending on your service carrier. No wifi available. Rocky will need air mattresses or padding.

Pets are welcome! Please keep dogs on leash/in your control at all times and pick up after them, we also have dogs. Chickens on property in a fenced off area, please be aware of our chickens with your dogs. Come see us for some eggs if you want some fresh chicken eggs! We only open to one group/family at a time so the river area is free for your group/family/pets.

We do float the river in the summer when hot. Come talk with us if you would like to know about floating/fishing/logging roads. You will need your own tubes.

Fishing license required to fish and is up you to have your license.



River Camping 

Tower Rock U-Fish RV Park

## Overview

In a well-shaded location among maple trees and ferns, Blue Lake Creek Campground offers open, grassy spaces with sites that can accommodate both tents and RVs with a small brook that babbles through the campground.   
  
Both Blue Lake and the Cispus River can be reached from multi-use trails leaving the campground, making this location popular among hikers, mountain bikers and OHV riders.

## Recreation

There is direct access to the Valley Trail, which is used by OHV riders, mountain bikers, hikers and horseback riders. Valley Trail offers a network of over 50 miles of OHV trails.   
  
The shorter High Log Trail is only open to foot traffic and connects with the Cispus River, where fishing and other water activities abound.   
  
Hikers looking to explore the stunning scenery of Blue Lake, can take the Valley Trail #270 to the Blue Lake Trail, which leads visitors on a trek of moderate difficulty to Blue Lake, where fishing and beautiful mountain landscapes await. 

## Facilities

The campground consists of 11 back in sites with paved parking spurs that vary from 20 to 30 feet in length. Due to its popularity among OHV riders, Blue Lake Creek can become noisy when trail bikes come and go.   
  
Minimal privacy is provided between sites. Hookups and drinking water are not available at this facility, however there are picnic tables, grills and vault toilets available on site.

## Natural Features

Located in southwest Washington State, the Gifford Pinchot National Forest encompasses over 1.3 million acres, including the 110,000-acre Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument established by Congress in 1982.   
  
Blue Lake Creek Campground is located in the Cowlitz Valley Ranger District, which is in the northernmost portion of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.   
  
This Ranger District manages four Wilderness Areas including the Goat Rocks Wilderness, Glacier View Wilderness, Tatoosh Wilderness and William O Douglass Wilderness.   
  
The Cispus River runs nearby the campground and can be accessed via a short hike. Blue Lake, a small mountain lake with beautiful turquoise waters, can also be reached by via a trail leaving the campground.

## Charges & Cancellations

Cancellations

Individual Campsites: Cancellations up to 2 days before a reservation start date incur a $10.00 cancellation fee. 

A visitor who cancels a reservation the day before or on the day of arrival will pay a $10.00 service fee AND forfeit the first night's use fee including tax and applicable add-on for a campsite.

Cancellations for a one-night reservation will forfeit the entire amount paid and will not be subject to an additional service fee.

No-Shows

A no-show visitor is one who does not arrive at a campground and does not cancel the reservation by check-out time on the day after the scheduled arrival date. Staff will hold a campsite until check-out time on the day following the arrival date.

No-shows are assessed $20.00 service fee and forfeit the first night's rate, taxes and applicable add-on for a campsite. 

Refunds

Visitors may submit a refund request through their Recreation.gov profile within 7 days of the end date of their reservation. Refunds will not be issued after the 7 days has ended.

Refunds for debit or credit card payments will be issued as a credit to the original bank or credit card used to pay.

For check or cash purchases, Recreation.gov will mail a Treasury check for refunds of cash, check, or money order payments to the address associated with the reservation. Treasury check refunds may take up to 6-8 weeks to arrive. 

In the event of an emergency closure, the Recreation.gov team or facility manager will refund all fees and will attempt to notify you using the contact information within the Recreation.gov visitor profile.
