Steep hike to water

About 4 sites for tents, 4 for RV, both 1/4 mile downhill hike to river. Bring waders, steep banks make fly casting tough. Cost to camp is $20/night as of August '24. Potable water a walk aways...may need 3 hands to operate. Excellent hiking opportunities.

Late Season Fishing Attempt

Beautiful spot on North Platte River. Hit it right before seasonal shutdown. Iced river bank. Long hike seeking river access and fishing opportunities. Exposed camp site with high winds made it impossible to pitch a tent. Will go back when conditions are favorable for fishing and camping.

Tastefully Developed, Empty, and Awesome

We were told by Google that this campground was permanently closed, but we went with The Dyrt's info, and it really panned out. We were the only ones there, it was a short walk down to the Platt (flys and lures only), and the tent site, fire-ring, and picnic table were in top notch condition. Would definitely stay here again.

Six Mile Gap Campground...

...on six mile road near the CO/WY border. We did the float on the North Platte River. This is a minimal campground near the river with nothing more than a vault toilet. Great views of mountains and plains and even some pronghorns near the camp. I don’t remember if there was potable water or not. Lots of roads around here are dirt so call the rangers if you have concerns about your low clearance vehicle.
