Grant Campground—elevation 7,800 feet (2377 m)—is located in Grant Village, just off the Grand Loop Road at the south end of Yellowstone Lake. It is one of the larger campgrounds in the park with 430 sites. Group and wheel-chair accessible sites are available. Nearby there are stores, a restaurant, gas station, visitor center, and boat ramp. ADA Access: Three accessible sites, with an extended picnic table and a raised fire grate. Accessible restrooms are located near the accessible sites. Accessible shower in Camper Services Building.

There are over 400 sites at the campground, including tent, RV and combination tent/RV sites. There are also 8 group campsites. Campsites for hikers and cyclists are also available. As noted above, the campground is set in a partly wooded area located a short distance from the southwest shore. Guests can find partly-shady or sunny sites, depending on availability. Additional campground facilities include:
There are no electricity, water, or sewage hook ups at any of the campsites.

Dishwashing stations are located at most restroom buildings

Though not available in the campgrounds, complimentary internet service at approved locations is available to registered guests of Xanterra-operated campgrounds. Cell service is limited. Read more about internet and cell service in the park.
When calling to make a reservation be prepared to give the size of your tent (in feet) or the combined length of your RV and any other vehicles or towed vehicles. (e.g. the length of your truck in addition to the length of your trailer when fully open.)

Campground rates are per night, for up to six people or one family (parents with dependent children) and do not include taxes and utility fee.
Campground sites that will accommodate a maximum combined length of 40-feet or more are limited.
Please keep in mind that most campsites in Yellowstone will not accommodate oversize units. If you arrive at the campground/RV park with equipment different than that for which you have reserved, we will not be able to accommodate you.

Grant Village Campground — Yellowstone National Park

We stayed in a travel trailer at Grant Village campground for 10 days. This is a dry site (no hook-ups). Because we selected a site next to the comfort station, grey water and sewage storage was not a problem. There was a shower site we had to drive to right down the street; we were given a "pass" for one shower for each adult each day. A little annoying but doable (the water was hot and unlimited). The site was a little tight with our 34 ft rig but it worked without damage to the local foliage. A little on site selection: when you reserve for the campground, you don't select a site. We arrived at 1 pm and selected our site then. The rush for sites was typically around 6-7:30 pm, so I recommend arriving early. Our site was frequented by elk and deer. The lake was a very short walk down the hill. The Village had a grocery, cafe, restaurant, post office, visitor center, and souvenir shop. Would highly recommend.

Enjoyable Yellowstone National Park campground

Traveling from Idaho to Colorado, my husband and I made a trip to Yellowstone first. We both got to see our first Elk. She came right up to us, ate a little of the greens surrounding us, and went right on her way. It was a wonderful and one of a kind experience. Our favorite hike was to the waterfalls... all of them. There were so many and each waterfall had a unique quality. Separating one from the other.

Busy campground but very great location to many of the attractions

Busy

First family vacation to a National Park. There are many camgrounds within the park. We chose this one due to its availability and it's amenities. We don't camp very often and use a tent and camping stove. But like to have a working bathroom and showers nearby. The campground had showers close and a camp store where you can buy just about anything you need. We went in early August. The days were warm but not hot and the nights got chilly due to the elevation. Not sure if the location near the lake helps keep it cooler. I would stay here again but it is located at the south end of Yellowstone so many park attractions are a decent drive 20-30 minutes.  If you are going all the way to the North side of the park expect an hour or more.

**Campsite Review:**

Big. Beautiful. Right on the Lake.

This is one of the few campsites that I've been to that has just about every amenity that I could want. There are flush toilets, showers, laundry, general store and restaurants. But, there aren't any electric/water hook-ups at the sites, which for me isn't that big of a deal.

I have to admit, I spent most of my trip away from the campsites exploring the park, but the time I did spend in the park was pretty awesome. We went in the middle of June and there was still snow on the ground over much of the park including the campsites. We ate dinner one night at the Grant Village restaurant, and really wasn't impressed compared to how much it was. I'd much rather just have cooked myself, but I'm all about the experience so we tried it.

Other than the number of people, even though it's expected at Yellowstone, we loved the site and will definitely keep it in mind when we go back. Just remember to get a reservation about 6 months out to secure your site.

**Camping with the GO: Day 12**

During our road trip around the US, I was able to try out the [GO](https://www.sylvansport.com/go/) camper from [SylvanSport](https://www.sylvansport.com/). For the first week and a half of our trip we didn't have a drop of rain. I guess Mother Nature was saving it all up for Yellowstone. While in the GO we never had to worry about any of our stuff getting wet, and we were also able to sit out side under the large awning. Great times!

Ranger Review: Beyond Clothing at Grant Village, WY

We stayed in the Grant Campground for a 10 days and found it to be a wonderful family campground. Sites were large (however close together) with picnic tables and fire pits with grills at every site. Potabable water, bathroom, and dish washing facilities within walking distance of sites. We appreciated that it was far enough from the crowded area of Old Faithful and Canyon but still made it easy to visit the entire park. We were also close to Grand Teton and mde a few trips down to explore. Shower facilities were clean and had hot water - no time limit and 2 showers included per night with site reservation. If you are camping with an RV this does NOT have hookups but does have a dump station. During our 10 day stay there was only 1 bear sighting in the campground and it was the first in 4 weeks (this campground appears to have less bear that Canyon and Tower Falls). Overall a wonderful campground. We will stay here again on our next trip.

Yellowstone & Grand Tetons at your doorstep

Excellent 

Camping is a great way to see Yellowstone and this is Yellowstone. The sites are adequately sized for space and privacy but do vary. The National Park requires that tents are no larger than 12X12 and fit onto camping pad. However, many tents a little larger were set up when the campsite allowed for the space. I get the feeling that they will only guarantee a space up to 12X12, rather than taking a measuring stick to strictly enforce tent size. Some sites to have a pad defined by railroad ties that form a 12X12 square (at least in Canyon Village--I didn't see them in Grant, but the campground is very large).

There are several bathrooms with flushing toilets, dishwashing stations, and drinking water. There are bear boxes randomly spaced and intended to be shared by 2 or 3 sites; however, storing food and water in the vehicle is an acceptable option.

Sites are reservable; however to maximize efficiency, spaces are assigned by management. We arrived at 7 pm and while it was only a short line at the check-in, we had to wait over an hour to do so. I don't know if this is normal--but allow for ample time to check-in.

2 showers/night are included with each campsite. Additional showers cost about $8 for as much time as is needed. The showers are in a single location for the entire campground and as a result will likely require driving (unless you prefer to spend your time hiking on a paved camp road than the many gorgeous trails throughout Yellowstone). There is a large laundromat (which came in handy when my 10 year old got sick all over his sleeping in the middle of the night).

There is an adequate market in the village; however, the range of supplies were fairly limited. Other national parks I have visited, that actually have villages and markets, have all had a larger range of groceries than the one in Yellowstone. Try to stop at a grocery store on your way into the park if you need to resupply. There is also food service in the same building as the market, and a short walk away, there is a restaurant that overlooks Yellowstone lake (they have a great breakfast buffet). There is a gas station with a convenience store that offers additional selections. Firewood can be purchased at check in, the market, or the gas station, and when one runs out the other may still have supplies. However, our firewood was not seasoned (dry) and impossible to burn. I'm not sure if there would have been better options in town before entering Yellowstone--but always remember to buy where you burn!

Yellowstone is tremendously large! We left before 7 one morning to drive the lower loop. We stopped at Daisy Geyser, Norris Geyser Basin, the lower Yellowstone Falls, and the boiling mud pots before pulling back into our campsite at 8 pm. This campground is the closest one to the Old Faithful Basin, but furthest from anything on the upper loop. It would take about 7.5 hours to drive from Grant to Mammoth and back to Grant, and that's without stopping or Buffalo Jams. And it's Yellowstone, so worth the effort, but it's the Disney World of National Parks. Throughout the summer, be prepared for crowds, lines, and waiting for parking spaces to open up. Otherwise, chill out, relax, you are on vacation!

It's Yellowstone

We stayed here for 9 nights in oct and made it out base camp for exploring Yellowstone and the Tetons. From here it was easy to make trips to the whole park, West Yellowstone to the bear and wolf rescue, the Tetons, including Jenny lake, Jackson hole and the hot springs near there. We woke several mornings to elk in or near camp. Bear lockers are provided. They had clean warm bathrooms, a room to do dishes and a shower house near by. The sites were large and accommodated our two person tent, a trailer with a car tent on top and the vehicle we were using. They had a picnic table and fire pit. Wood was sold at the check in office. Close by were a gas/repair station, grocery store and restaurant. As I said we were there the second week of oct and were blessed with seeing every season in those 9 days, from 80 degrees to 14 degrees.

Loved this campground

Our first time in Yellowstone. when we go back we will likely try to get into a sight closer to the main attractions. Grant village is a bit removed from much of the main sights and while typically we would love that, Yellowstone is just too big! being a way from everything just means spending more in gas. a lot more! still the sight was quite nice. we managed to get one right off of the lake and somehow feel secluded  even with neighbors just a few hundred yards away. well kept bathrooms, dishwashing sinks and waterspouts were welcomed conveniences. all in all for being inside a crowded NP Grant village was about as good as you could expect.

Not bad for inside a national park 

This is a great campground, drinking water, clean restrooms, bear boxes at every site. You have a good amount of space for yourself but you will definitely hear and see your neighbors. There is a beautiful walkway to a lake with a beach area that we loved going to.

Great for families-tons of mosquitoes

We just barely returned from our trip to Yellowstone National Park. I highly recommend it to everyone! We stayed a few nights at different hotel places inside the park. We did so many hikes! We saw thousands of buffalo and all of the most famous attractions. If you want to see elk just lazing about the town then go to Mammoth. I highly recommend doing things like the Grand Prismatic and Ol’ Faithful in the morning before 10:00 because after that the parking lots get very busy. We ate lunch in several different picnic areas and each one had a restroom. Dont forget to see the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone and also the Huge waterfall! Bring your camera and your sunscreen!

SO AMAZING AND SO HUGE!!

The campsite was very roomy. Unfortunately you cannot pick a campsite you won't know what campsite you will be on until your arrive. The website for reserving does not explain why you cannot reserve a certain site, but when we arrived I asked them and was told that due to bear activity they often close loops. This would have been good information to have initially so I wouldn't stress so much. I am used to looking at what is available and picking the best out of the choices.

Also, I have camped in Yosemite several times and there is a bear box on each campsite. Yellowstone has 1 box that is shared between 2 -3 sites. Some boxes are very small and will not accommodate a cooler. So, you may ask what do you do with food/coolers that won't fit. You put them in your car. This idea was so foreign to me as we have always been told never keep anything with an odor in your car/truck when camping with bears.

After overcoming all the logistical obstacles we thoroughly enjoy our stay. With each night you have 2 showers per site which is very nice. The showers were wonderful and no time limit.

All in all the 5 nights were amazing. Even in the rain. There are mosquitoes even when the evening temperature dips into the 30's.

Beautiful campsite.  Lacking bear boxes

This campground was awesome. It has a ton of trees so you actually get some privacy from all the people in Yellowstone mid-summer. Every one is pretty quiet once the sun goes down and everyone has their camp fires lit. The trees in the campsite make for a perfect hammock session 😌 they also provide free showers for campers! Nice hot shower during the middle of our trip. They also had laundry, stores, fuel and other things, pretty much anything you'd need. Definitely recommend this site!

Quiet and private

One of the nicest campgrounds I’ve encountered and made new friends here as well. easlily access to all the parts of the park via Automobile. Laundry,showers, restaurant and store all within walking distance. 

Yellowstone Explorations 

I absolutely loved this campground. A beautiful trail around the area and very close to the lake! The showers and bathrooms were well maintained and the staff were friendly.

Beautiful, spread out and quiet campground with a great location in the park as your close to the geyser basins. This is the closest campground in the park to the Tetons. Very clean too!

Showers are here and the kitchen washing station is solid. Good bathrooms, good campground, close to all the action. Really enjoyed this site, despite the rain.

This is a nice campground for Yellowstone. No electrical, but your reservation includes one free shower per person.

Nice sized sites, no electrical, but showers!

When driving out West for a family camping summer trip, we decided to spend a couple of days at Yellowstone. We saw Bison (not Buffalo per my daughter), elk, deer, wolves, and tons of smaller animals. This was my second trip to the park (I'm out near DC) and, while you can't go wrong with Yellowstone's wide variance in sites and things to do, this review will be on the Grant Campground as I'm sure there are other resources for the entire park.

The first time I visited Yellowstone, we stayed at a KOA near the West Gate. While I remember that trip fondly, I found that KOA appeals to a different type of traveler. One that is okay with being "closer" to nature without losing any of the frills of a home. The real bugger about it was that we had to wait about 45 minutes for the line getting into the park. I knew I wanted to be inside from that point on and the location of Grant really sells itself here. Essentially, the park is free to roam around if you stay within its boundaries before the gates open to the public.

By staying on the southern side of the park, you get to explore the area around Yellowstone Lake, specifically the West Thumb. There are active geysers which smell of sulfur, but nothing I noticed near the campground.

The campground itself was VERY busy compared to every other place we stayed. Hey, it's Yellowstone and that was to be expected. Just give yourself plenty of time to settle in. We were in line for over an hour getting checked-in. I'm not sure how normal that was, but it was the middle of August.

The generators and the RVs with their TVs, radios, etc. were TOO LOUD for our taste. I felt like our tent was on top of the next site, but that could be because every other National Park I've stayed at has had at least 30' between my tent and someone else's. The close confines, though, helped us out in the end as there were a few wolves that came through the campground at night. Still, I prefer to "get away" from those things when I camp. Just me, I suppose.

The summer was still chilly enough for us to need long john's and a knit cap. The facilities were awesome throughout the park and Grant was no different. There were over 20 showers available, but they were tiny. Think the size of a regular bathroom stall sans the toilet. Food, supplies, and wood were all easy to get to, but pricier than other places. You HAVE to try the Bison Burgers if you are a meat eater.

The layout of Yellowstone let's you drive in a figure eight and you should probably give yourself a couple of days minimum to see the sites. I loved that the southern gate is less busy than the others. I believe that is because driving south essentially takes you to another awesome park, Grand Teton National Park. There really is a cool feeling you get being close to water when the day winds down.

I would say that you may want to consider Lewis Lake campground if you are comfortable staying even further south. It's a bit less busy, but Lewis Lake was probably the prettiest body of water I saw the whole time in Yellowstone. Still, Grant did a great job for our time there.

Yellowstone's Southern Campground

Gorgeous, pristine campsite. Only complaint is that there isn’t a ton of privacy. Trees were bare in July so you could see all your neighbors and what they were up to. Generators also seemed much louder than at other campgrounds we’ve been to. It was beautiful and clean and had great facilities though!

Spacious campground 

This campground is right on Yellowstone Lake with some spots having a great view and others are easy to walk down to the lake.  I love staying here when in Yellowstone because I always love staying near the water.  It’s super peaceful to walk to the lake in the morning or sunset and just sit and relax.  There are showers, laundry services and a great store near the campground.  The ranger programs at night are always great and there is a great trail that runs along the lake that will take you there.

This was the second  Yellowstone campground we stayed at. It was very large. The workers at the registration building were friendly and helpful. This campground is on Yellowstone lake. There were clean restrooms that were heated. Also an area within the restroom building to wash dishes. Also laundry facilities and showers were available in another building a short distance from the campground. A gas station, visitor center, restaurant, and store within a short drive. Unfortunately it started to rain in the evening and rained all night long, which dampened things a bit. Fires were allowed. Our site was very nice and woodsy. 

Very large campground

Great campground! I had plenty of room for a 3 person and 4 person tent with room to spare. There was a great fire pit and picnic table and the bathrooms were close by as well as a dish washing station and water spickets. The map was easy to follow and the site was easy to find. There are a lot of campsites but I felt we had enough privacy even with campers on on 2 sides of us. There was parking for 2 cars at our site. Also showers were available. After spending the day on the west side of the loop this was a great spot to end out day!

Best campground in yellowstone?

lots of photo ops, huge park take your time and see it all, plan ahead it will save you much sorrow, the amenities are whatever you prefer, I have never seen a park with so many options

awe inspiring

This is a decent campsite, a little KOA like with how many sites there are but overall nice. They have great showers along with a nice bathroom. There is amenities around that you can use like a store, gas station, etc.

Perfect!

This was a great spot to camp, but a little unnerving being in a small tent in bear country. Middle of the summer and it was still down right chilly at night. I'm not sure I've ever been so cold while camping. This campground has restrooms within the loop as well as a large facility for showering and laundry at the entrance to which you likely want to drive. Everything was clean and well maintained. Be sure to practice good bear safety with food. Bear cans were provided for food storage. No food in the tents. No food smelling clothes in the tent. We were right next to the bathroom which was convenient and the campsite was quite large for our two person tent and canopy over the picnic table.

Can't beat Yellowstone!

Make reservations several months in advance because this campground is close to old faithful . The checkin desk can get very busy

In the woods

...your trip to Yellowstone. Grant village is located incredibly close to many of the nearby attractions you’ll find at Yellowstone. It’s on the southern part of the large ring road you’ll use to visit everything. Just a 7 minute drive from here and you’re at old faithful or a 5 minute walk and your at the beach of Yellowstone lake. Make sure you’re prepared with bear deterrent as this is bear country. Always store foods in your vehicle or trailers. The only downside i ever had was that this is a very popular campground with smaller sites so there’s a ton of folks here. If you’re looking to get away from people this isn’t the place however we found it fun meeting our neighbors.

A wonderful place to basecamp...

Campsite had great services; plenty of restrooms, washroom for dishes and showers for campers.  The check-in was super easy and they were very friendly.

  

The only issue we had was getting our camper into the site.  They advertised our particular site as a pull-through site and we nearly got our camper stuck trying to pull in.  It took some doing, but we got parked properly.  It would have been far easier to just back in to this particular lot.

  

Our camper is just over 31', so that could have been a factor.

I mean It's Yellowstone

I stayed here with my friend for 2 days. I don’t have any check in info since it she handled that but the site was big, there was potable water and the bathrooms were clean. It’s a quick walk to the west thumb of Yellowstone lake with views of the east entrance mountain range. It was a great location for us to meet up since I was in Tetons for a few days. Easy to go to and from the west and East side of the park. I have Verizon and randomly had 2 bars of service. No WiFi in the area. The general store had a ton of merchandise to select from. My friend really liked the area and said she stay here again. 

Good location! 

This is one of Yellowstone’s bigger campgrounds. As such, the sites are closely packed for the most part, although there are some that offer more privacy, all are different dep. on where they put you (cannot pick your own site). Check-in lady was friendly and cordial (Judy from Missouri). Bathrooms were clean. Sites are mostly level, mostly shaded. We were lucky and had nice neighbors which makes the closeness more tolerable. Some sites actually have paths that go down to the lake, if you are lucky enough to get one of those it’s an added bonus. They have a shower house but it was not open this summer due to COVID, so part of our fee was refunded. No WiFi and cell coverage was close to zilch.

Not bad

Pretty good site, but pretty packed and close to others. The campers before us hadn't moved out til we arrived. We were happy to walk over to the shower building even though we had to pay. Overall it had good amenities and it got the job done.

Really Busy but Still Great

Campground was small and so were the sites. If you’re driving an RV, it’s tight. Bathrooms were nice and clean.

Clean but basic

Of course it’s in Yellowstone, so awesome location! We found the campsites too tight and close to one another. If you’re interested in your neighbor’s conversations, then maybe that’s great for you but in our case I wasn’t. Which they didn’t care much about and were even louder. Otherwise, for $28 a night you get a spot to sleep in Yellowstone. No hookup, but a dump station. And firewood for $10 each box. A reflection of what’s happening to Yellowstone in general. More people, more money. 

Great location, but tight spots

We loved it here. You are right in the park and close to everything making it easy to get out early and beat the crowds. Some sites are better then others, but we had a great one in site e156. Large site with plenty of privacy from other sites. The campground sits on Yellowstone lake which was perfect for afternoon swims. We will definitely be back.

Perfect for exploring Yellowstone 

I have a 23’ motor home and our spot was really tight. There were other larger RVs that were crammed in the trees, so beware of that. It downpoured one of our nights here and there was 6 inches of standing water around much of the campground. If you’re a tent camper, be mindful of the low spots. Great access to a trail and Yellowstone Lake.

The campground was very full, but that's to be expected. Our site was a walk from the lake, and we had elk walk right next to the site twice. There were clean toilets, a dishwashing station, bear boxes, and fresh water spout. Pretty generic and everything you'd expect from a national park, which is not a bad thing. 

Nice Location

We were there in early June and they had a cold front coming in with snow! Campground was for tent camping, no hookups. 

Yellowstone Heaven

Tight but flat camping spots. Each night includes two showers with unlimited hot water. Shower place also has coin operated laundry and general camp store. Hike down past the amphitheater to the beach for stellar sunsets.

This is your Typical NP campground, ment for smaller rigs and tent campers. We are 32ft Class C and we managed to squeeze into site 42. It was still cold when we visited in May and most of the campground was still closed. Only loop A was open. Water and dump in campground, laundry and hot showers also available.

A basic national park, no hook-up campground with mostly pull through sites that were very small. The arcs of the pull throughs are tight, so it makes it even more challenging for larger RVs. Check out the photo of a large 5th wheel that was crammed into a site across from mine. I have no idea how they got out of there. The asphalt is old so the pull through is not always level. Grant has great access to the southern part of the park including Old Faithful but stayed here in July 2022 after the flooding in June and there were delays in getting around because of road work. I stayed in site 250 in the middle of H loop for two nights and one night in 323 near the end of a cul de sac which was less crowded and much nicer. I only noticed one bathroom per loop which is not great, and I would rate them a C. The centralized bath house is huge and I would rate that a B+

Good Location but Crowded and Small Sites

While you are very close to your neighbor campers, the views are amazing and this campground isn’t too far from old faithful! Showers are included and the bathrooms are kept very clean! I love it!

Great views of yellowstone 

Decent spot, towards the bottom of the park but still a decent distance from everything. Small selection at the camp.
