Green River’s shaded, grassy campground is a beautiful oasis in the desert! The campground has recently been renovated with water and electric hookups for most sites. Modern restrooms provide showers. Sheltered picnic tables provide a relaxing spot to enjoy views of the Green River.

Green River State Park Campground — Green River State Park

We rolled into Green River at about 1 AM after 18 hours of driving from Washington. It had never felt so good to fall onto the ground and go to sleep. The only thing that was a problem throughout the night was the sound of a train going by (this likely couldn't be heard from all of the camp sites) and horses neighing from who knows where.

The grounds have clean bathrooms and accessible water. Each campsite has at least 1 picnic table as well and a fire pit (I believe). We didn't spend long at in Green River State Park, but it was a nice convenient place to stay the night after a LONG day of driving.

A Comforting Sight

I have stayed at this campground a few times. There is not much to do in the town of green river except for go on a float trip and eat some fresh watermelon. I like this campsite because it is centrally located to a few fun things. It is about 45 min from both Goblin Valley and Moab. I have also done a day trip down to Lake Powell to do a canyon from this campsite. It is right next to the train tracks which is a negative, but its huge common areas full of grass and almost complete shade cover makes up for the loud trains! It is a great place to bring the family and just hang out after a long day exploring central Utah.

Green River State Park Campground 

My husband and I ended up at this campground after discovering every other campground within an hour of Moab was full. We were lucky enough to find a walk up site at this state park. The site are roomy enough but with no privacy between sites. The staff and other campers were friendly though so it was not too bad. The bathrooms and camp sites were clean and well maintained. Lots of children and families. The river front park and pier are good for fishing and a safe place to let the dogs play (though we kept ours on leash as the river is rather wide and faster in the middle). This is a great spot for a family or multi-family weekend get away and is close enough for day trips to Moab.

Fun weekend

We stopped here for a quick overnight on our way thru Utah. 

The facilities are incredibly clean, some of the nicest flush toilets and single showers I've visited. 

We stayed at site 3, which included electric and water hook ups. There is a dump station as well. 

The campground host is super friendly. It is a nice quiet place right on the golf course. If my nose is correct, there is a hot spring nearby.

This is a perfect state park for families, or a quick stop thru Utah.

Beautiful scenery

Got into the area late and needed a place to stay but everything was booked or taken...this place had 4 sites on a FCFS basis and it was awesome! Spread out sites for a state park! Bathhouses were conveniently located and clean! $35 for water and electric with a dump station and water, this was perfect compared to everywhere else I checked ($50 PLUS). Highly recommend! 

Close to Arches

Great Campground 

This campground is so nice! The sites are spaced out to give everyone their privacy. Very clean grounds and we'll maintained. Walk to the Green River to fish, kayak, or canoe. This state park also has a full fledged, beautiful golf course! We just stayed one night passing through but it's definitely the kind of spot we'd love to stay for a weekend. Loved our stay would highly recommend.

An oasis in the desert!

A small, cute state park in Green River Utah. Boat access to the Green River. Hemmed in on all sides by a private golf course. There are 40 spaces and a group site. The bathroom and showers are clean. There are 30 and 50 amp hookups, water, and a dump station. Dumpsters are available for your trash. Overall a nice place for a night.

Small, Clean State Park

Love love love this place! We were so sad we only stayed here for a night. It has so much to offer for being in the middle of no where desert. Golf, fishing, hiking, swimming, enjoying the big trees in hammocks, etc. We loved it and will be back. it's a great place to stop over night too when traveling.

Can't say enough good things!

Tucked under a canopy of Cotton Wood trees and within sight of the stunning mountains into which the Green River cuts, this quaint little NPS campground is an oasis in the middle of the eastern Utah desert.  Like many NPS campgrounds, the sites are well spread out and can more easily accommodate tents and smaller campers than big rigs– but even they can find a few places to park. With pull-through and back-in sites, most folks can find something to accommodate their equipment. Keep in mind that there are no electrical hook-ups, so bring your solar panels and leave that generator at home so as to keep this place a true oasis!

  

The river provides a nice companion to the campground, and swimming is encouraged especially during the hotter months– careful of the current through. In the evening, the river banks host a nature lover’s evening show, which featured beavers and mule deer in addition to water fowl and humming birds while we were there. Along the river’s banks, a nice trail leads to the group camping area and canyon boat landing, giving excellent views of the river. 

  

The campsites were clean and level. The bathrooms were clean with flush toilets and fresh water. Mobile data connection was spotty at best in the campground, however the Visitor’s Center had 24/7 wifi which worked really well. 

  

Within 5 miles of the campsite, the park offers visitors the chance to explore the park at many different hikes between 15 minutes to 4 hours, but a stop at the Dinosaur Quarry Exhibit Hall is a must. With the remains of hundreds of specimens from the ancient past on display as they were first uncovered, you can literally spend hours learning about each species. The park rangers are veritable fonts of knowledge, easily distilling our collective knowledge about these amazing creatures. It’s an amazing learning experience for the whole family. 

  

The closest town is Vernal, UT, which has all the services that you might need, including some crazy dinosaur tourist kitsch.

An Oasis in the Middle of the Desert

Beautiful nature surrounding the campground. Camp sites felt very large with tons of space &amp; privacy. The staff was nice and we checked in quite late around 10PM and they were still there and welcomed us. Only stayed for one night so didn't have the time to explore around too much. 

Beautiful nature & spacious

We stayed 7 nights in Site 14.  Water &amp; Electric Hookups and they have a dump station on site.  Our site was asphalt and level.  Spacious and large patio area with picnic table. No issues with AT&amp;T or T-Mobile services here.  Very quiet during the week.  Many groups on the weekends.  Green River was very muddy at the time we were there so we did not get to Kayak.  Not much to do in the town itself.  But, driving distance to Moab, UT for The Arches and Canyonlands.  My husband used their showers and said they were clean.  Our site did not have room for our Jeep Toad.  Had to park it in the boat launch area and walk to it although we thought from the website measurements of this site there would be plenty of room.  They also have two days a week they water all the grass.  The water from the sprinklers left water spots on our dark RV.  Just a note not to wash your RV ahead of this stay like we did.  Speaking of water, a lot of mosquitos in the grass.  Be sure to bring the good repellent! We would visit this park again!

Enjoyable!

Green River State Park is located on the Green River and is a great place to canoe or fish on. We stayed at site GR12 and the grounds were kept clean. We opted for a partial hook up for our early Spring trip. The Campground was not full which gave us ample space to spread out. They have clean public restrooms 🚻 and plenty of trees (once they start blooming again). I would recommend this Campground.
