Been many times. Its great
I’ve had many great experiences at this park it’s a ways out of the way of the city noise. The only sound other than bird song is the occasional moo and some coyote yips in the distance

Erwin Park is a great place to visit if you're looking to spend a few days running or biking trails. Campsites are far enough apart that you have privacy yet close enough that you don't feel alone. The park has several covered pavilions as well as restrooms but lacks shower facilities. A few of the campsites are drive up but most are park and haul. Each site has a picnic table, fire pit and trash can and some of the sites are more shaded than others. The trail network is about 9 miles and maintained by DORBA, these trails flood easily after rain so check the DORBA website before making the trip. The trails are straight forward and not super technical. Runners, hikers, walkers go one direction and bikes go the opposite. It gets pretty busy on the weekends with bikers so if you're on foot keep your eyes & ears open to avoid being in the middle of a pileup.

I camped at this campground a few years back in October of 2018. My experience was quite good overall. From my memory I recall there being toilets and water, but I might be mistaken.
Great easy spot for day camping or easy car camping with family. Good fire pits and great pavilion at the group site if you can get it.
Best mountain bike single tracks around with lots of built features
What a great getaway that feels like you’re far from home but only a few min away for us. When you want a spur of the moment trip it’s a great place to go. The only thing I would change is the bathroom facilities, there are no doors at all!

This site is great for hiking, mountain biking and camping.
I grew up going to Erwin Park to camp. It was a well kept secret with spacious tent sites, picnic areas and hiking trails.
Located just outside of McKinney, it has become a popular spot with mountain bikers. That can create issues on the weekend when the trails are teeming with cyclists. It just gets crowded and parking can be a challenge. Hiking also isn’t as safe.
The park is maintained by parks & rec and can cleanliness can vary. Unfortunately we have noticed more litter and left over junk in the fire pits as its popularity has increased.
If you are a mountain biker, this park offers great creekbed, wooded trails. As I mentioned before, it’s a popular spot so bring your patience with other riders.
Love this park. Very big!
