## Overview

 Poole Knobs Campground is a lakeside oasis in the green hills of Tennessee, providing campers with countless recreational activities on the lake and in the surrounding woods and grasslands.
## Recreation

 The lake provides a variety of outdoor recreational opportunities for millions of visitors each year. Because of the temperate climate and relatively long recreation season, visitors have numerous activities to choose from, including fishing, hunting, picnicking, boating, canoeing, hiking, horseback riding and wildlife viewing. Fishing opportunities abound at J. Percy Priest Lake, with a wide variety of species available, including largemouth and smallmouth bass, crappie, striped bass, Cherokee bass, and white bass. Other species such as catfish, bluegill, bream and trout provide excellent opportunities for younger anglers. 
## Facilities

 Poole Knobs Campground offers 87 shady and spacious campsites, along with one larger group camping site. The campground features drinking water, a dump station, flush toilets and hot showers, creating a comfortable camping experience. A boat ramp is provided, allowing guests to take advantage of the vast, sparkling lake. The group campsite can accommodate up to 40 campers, making it an ideal spot for family parties.
## Natural Features

 J. Percy Priest Dam and Lake was one of the first Corps of Engineers lakes to have recreation as part of its mission. The dam, completed in 1968, impounds 42 miles, with 14,200 surface acres of water. In soothing contrast to the sparkling waters of the lake are the adjacent 19,087 acres of grasslands and woodlands. A highlight of the region, the Cedar Glades Natural Area, is home to countless wildlife and plant species, including the Tennessee coneflower.

 J. Percy Priest Lake is conveniently located about ten miles east of downtown Nashville, offering visitors countless cultural activities in addition to the conveniences of a metro area.

best campground

We live in Nashville and we're looking for a place to dump our tanks. We decided to spend the night here and take our kayaks out onto the lake. It was a beautiful campsite and all of the shade made it much cooler.

Quick visit

I made a tour of campgrounds and lake recreation spots near Nashville TN during an extended trip where I had to be there to keynote some conferences.

Camping- The camping is normal. Nothing special, but perfectly adequate. All you need and nothing more.

Grounds- The grounds here were ok.

If the other better spots are booked, this one is ok. If not, go to a better campground on the lake.

Ho hum again.

Love this campground the only thing is that I have been seeing trash on the ground.

Nice campground

Absolutely loved waking up next to the water.  Great location and super clean.  Lots of shade and privacy.  They had a raccoon issue the first time we stayed but 5 weeks later seemed to have it under control.  Three bathrooms, two had showers, all very clean. 

What a view!!

We had a spot on the lake ,26 , it is not real level but we compensated with our Lego levelers and a bit of wood. Very friendly staff. The bathrooms were rustic  to be polite but usable. We stayed 2 nights in a 20' TT. Walmart close by.

Beautiful lake 

Was only here for a night hammock camping reviewing some products.  The park had just had sever storms and several sites closed from downed trees.  Shower house is in middle of campground so if you are in outer loop you have drive around and into the middle and then drive back around.  Several spots that were nice some with direct water acces and others tucked into the hill.

Spent two nights here for Labor Day 2020. We stayed on the center strip in the primitive area. The facilities were well maintained and clean. Each site has a concrete picnic table, fire ring, and a moveable lantern hook. The primitive area has several water spigots to use (near each restroom and a few in between). 

The outer loop sites all have electric and water hookups, but the restrooms are all on the upper level where the primitive sites are. If you don’t have your own bathroom, it’s a bit of a hill to climb and there’s only a couple spots to do it. 

Overall, we loved it and we’ll be back for sure. 

Great place for Labor Day weekend

Another beautiful campground on the edge of a lake. Most campsites were pull through. Management was very friendly and helpful. Campsites for far enough apart so you weren't stacked on top of each other. It was nice to have a site right next to the lake to make it easy for fishing.

Pools Knob Camp Ground

Nice quiet campground where I highly recommend getting a spot by the water. A bit un-level in most spots for tent camping. 
Bathroom and showers are a bit old, but it’s cleaned often and the shower water is hot. 
Not wowed by this place but it’s close and affordable. 

Quiet and peaceful

Great, spacious sites with concrete or wood picnic tables, fire pits and grills. Fairly level sites. 
Clean and well maintained. Only downside is limited bathroom and shower facilites ( a long trek, uphill). 

Beautiful waterfront camping

If you are lucky enough to snag a water spot it has hookups and views. I could come here annually it’s gorgeous and nicely shaded by the trees.
