Spacious and lush with centralized location to many activities/attractions

If we were to own an RV park, we’d design it just like Custer Gulch. They had lush green yards in between each site with gravel, level pads and plenty of yard or forest behind each RV too. After driving around, we’re convinced this park was the best choice in Custer and provided a centralized location for so many outdoor activities as well as tourist attractions. We stayed 6 nights in site #14 that seemed to be the original part, very quiet off the main road and well maintained. There’s an open RV area as you first drive in that seems newer and more suited for larger rigs. Its operated by a pleasant, easy going staff. There’s laundry room, showers and a club house you could use for large family gatherings. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Give yourself several days to explore the buffalo herds, scenic drives and hiking in Custer State Park There’s kayaking or swimming at Stockade Lake minutes from the RV park. Crazy Horse Memorial is 10 mins away and Mount Rushmore 30 mins away.

Outstanding

We had an absolutely wonderful stay here. The setting was stunning and the amenities completely helpful. They rented us a car, sold wood and ice, and had well working washing and drying machines. Additionally, they’re located both in the midst of the serene woods but closely accessible to all the major sites.

Typical

There's no getting around that this is a well-maintained park. We stayed here in 2018 for a over a month. October 2019 stay was for three weeks. Everything was fine until a rouge storm was predicted to come in the last week we were to be there. We decided that it might be best for us to head back home. So, I went to the owner and told her what our intentions were and wondered if we might be able to get a few nights credit(not a whole week) with them for 2020 as we were going to come back again. She said she would have to discuss it with her husband and let me know. Two days later still no answer. My wife saw them together while she was walking the dog and again asked if we could get some days off for the 2020 stay, we were planning with our grown kids. They were very rude about it and said they would not do that. We were not asking for any money back. But since we had been with them the year before for over a month, we hoped they would like to get a little more money out of us the following year. I guess they feel that they are the best place in Custer, and they don't have to be worry about any lost revenue. The day we left it snowed up to 6 inches that night and stayed in the teens for the next 3 days. Our propane tank in the motorhome would have run out the first night. So, if you have a problem while you're there don't look for any understanding from these people. Most of the bad reviews I saw after this encounter was how rude the owners were. There are other nice RV parks in Custer. We will give them our money.

Great large RV park

The park has not only multiple pull throughs, but most sites handle a 45 foot coach with ample room for the toad.

Just far enough off the hiway to be quiet during even bike week, and super clean.

Very convenient to the state park and Custer and forestry roads for hiking or 4 wheeling.

Excellent Experience

This is a great choice for a campground. Each site is spaced out where you don't feel like you are hanging out in your neighbor's campground! Each site backs up to wooded areas with a view. This campground has full hookup with laundry services that are nice. We didn't use the shower house but they looked well kept. Custer's Gulch RV park is tucked away from the highway so you don't hear any of the road noise. I would highly recommend this RV park to anyone traveling up that way.

Great Location in the Black Hills

We got into Custer's Gulch at night in a thunderstorm. The staff left out our reservation paperwork so we knew where to go. As dark as it was at night pulling into the spot was a breeze. Fairly level and kinda far back off the road. We had a full hookup site. Water was discolored but tasted fine, hey its well water and it's camping. Being that we arrived at night we woke up to one of the most picturesque views. A sunny clear day in the black hills. Check in morning was easy and the staff was friendly. There are laundry facilities and a bath house. Dumpster is kinda far away but that's a good thing if you ask me. Gravel roads are in great shape. The campground is 5 minutes from Custer, SD and within 30 minutes of all the must do sites.
