Underwhelming

Booking was easy… Curt, was informative and accessible… His parents checked us in and they were lovely. The town does not have a healthy restaurant although there are many. The compound is interesting with a mix of tiny homes and alternative facilities.

Exactly as described

We have been on the road for a month and have put 4000 miles on the van, the cleanest restroom I have seen. Nicest, most accomidating hosts that you could ask for. Great little spot.

Beware! Dry toilets in use

Please read the extra long email confirmation you receive as embedded within is the fact that they use dry toilets. This was a deal breaker for us. Unfortunatetly, i didn’t catch this until too late & did not get a refund for our reservation cancellation.

Yes, Dorothy, we are building an eco-friendly homestead and compost everything organic. Our Bath House is famous, incredibly clean and functions better than traditional toilet enough that folks are constantly studying it to see just how we did it. If you had actually come here, you may have been pleasantly surprised. We have been completely clear what we are and are not in our description. It really isn't fair or honest to give someone a one star review when everything operates as advertised. Penalizing others for our own mistakes is part of the problem with the world.

Great stay!

Curt was great. The stay was awesome and definitely would return. About an hour from Savannah and an hour from Hilton head.

Little to no service for Verizon by the way, however they did have WiFi but I would recommend using a WiFi extender once that was set up it worked great

fun personal atmosphere

We were wary after reading the Confirmation letter that came when we booked our stay however this was a great stay that we will definitely do again. We just did an overnight on our way back from Fl and this was the relaxing slow pace that was just what we needed for this trip.  This place is nothing like your sardine can campground experience it was quiet with just a few people and the owners had time to visit with you and make you feel welcome!

Boondock site

Another nice experience at this small campground. We decided to try the Boondock site this time. No power or water, so we were able to test out our on board solar, and one night used our small generator for the heater (solar can’t run the heater). See my 2022 review for more details on the grounds and the facilities. We were closer to the bathroom and outdoor shower this time. Being in a teardrop, with an outside bathroom and shower, is challenging in cold weather. We used the rocket stove at our site to cook some Field Roast sausages. Awesome. The site was big and away from the other sites. But, with most of the leaves and greenery gone, you can see the back yard of a house nearby. Not bad, but would be better if there was something blocking the view. Plenty of firewood. We had fires every morning and

There is a huge metal pine cone (hollow center, used for burning wood) near the big tree in the center of the property. We asked about if they burned wood in there often, and we had a big fire that night. Had a great visit that night. Will definitely stop by anytime we go through SC on I95.

Great area to relax

Sites are big, pretty open, but they planted bushes and plants all over the property. We stayed in an RV site, but plan to stay in the Boondock site when we return next week. Toilet is liquid in the front and solid in the back, so everyone has to sit down to use the toilet. The shower is outside, with an open bottom. Heated water and changing room with a mirror. Full hookup sites are available. Rock campfire rings, and free wood! Pick Nik table at each site and a rocket grill is available. After our first day here we decided to came back and already booked our stay. Limited sites, so if you’re looking for something different, non commercial, this is the place.
You can read all about what they are doing here on the website.

Peacefull

The host and his wife, and parents are in the process of creating a homestead. The property is spacious with convenient water and electric. We enjoyed the use of their little sauna and outdoor shower. My only suggestion for them is to strategically place trees-greens for those that may enjoy a little privacy. We did not take advantage of their outdoor plumbing/bathroom, however it did appear to be available across the yard.

Thanks for your kind words, guys. We're sure trying...I often say if there was anything I wish I could speed up time on it would be getting that Viburnum border 20 feet tall overnight! It was a pleasure having and getting to know you. Best wishes to you both.

Perfect escape from RV park madness

What this family is building here is nothing short of awesome. Quiet, calm, creative, beautiful…super inspirational. What a cool family and concept. We will definitely be back. Can't wait to see the tiny house homestead progress. Full hookups, flat fine gravel, great wifi, they even brought us a coffee in the morning because we were truck camping. Puts the overpriced parks to shame. RVing done right. Hats off!
