The most popular of all the Hocking areas is Old Man's Cave camping, located on State Route 664. Here at the Upper Falls, the Grandma Gatewood Trail begins its six-mile course connecting three of the park's areas.
Located in southeastern Ohio, Hocking Hills State Park has received national and international acclaim as a top park to visit. Stunning in every season, the park features towering cliffs, waterfalls and deep, hemlock-shaded gorges for hikers and nature lovers to enjoy. Visitors can look forward to views of wildflowers adorning the forest floor in springtime and vivid foliage in the fall.
Wow, the family and I had a great time here. This was our first camping trip with our new camper at the time. Weather was nice in the Spring time when we went. We did end up with a couple inches of snow also one morning. We will be back in the future.
Hocking hills is freaking amazing! Which is what made staying here OKAY. But this campground was not that awesome. Tiny sites that were basically just cement slates similar to parking lots. Zero trees or privacy (at least where we were) and eye sore dumpsters it felt like every few feet. You COULD however, walk strait into the trail system from there, so that made it worth it. Just don’t plan on spending much time at the campsite, and this place will be fine.
Camped there this last weekend. Facility cleanliness was fair, camp store was fair, plenty of trails close by. Rose Lake was really kool, both at night and during the day. Didnt see anyone catch any fish.
My family has loved going to Old Mans Cave since I was a wee babe. The campsite and surrounding park have tons of awesome amenities including hiking trails, backpacking trails, swimming, established camp sites, remote campsites, and other hocking hills tourism activities. The campsites include a wide variety of secluded and non secluded locations to choose from, depending on your comfort sleeping around other campers.
Love the area of this campground, a lot of hiking trails available. after the raining season is a good time to go to see the waterfalls at full volume.
Stayed here in 2016 and unfortunately haven’t booked fast enough in the past couple of years to stay again (it fills up really fast!) But none the less, it is a great state park campground and is in the Hocking Hills State Park. Hiking trails nearby as well as other State Park activities.
Hike in camp sites are awesome. You still have access to latrines and each site has a table an fire ring. Fairly succluded but you will see other people. Very close to all the places you would want to hike . The girls in the office are also very nice.
Bring a cart or be prepared to strap all your belongings to your back
At old mans cave campgrounds in southern Ohio, you can enjoy time at a nice campsite, the campgrounds also provide a nice in ground swimming pool as well as a nice shower house. Many things do outside of the campgrounds such as cave exploring and trail hiking.
