Awesome Campground

I found this place on The Dyrt app, so I came to check it out, I made a reservation online just to make sure I guaranteed my spot when I arrived, which I didn’t had to worry about either way because there was lots of empty spaces, but you never know, even though I made my reservation my spot didn’t have my name on it or any information about when I was suppose to arrive and leave, there was nobody there, but made me wonder if there was someone already there, besides that, it’s a great place to camping, clean, quite, bathroom was close by, shower and everything, besides all that I was able to use my phone with no problems, I have AT&T btw, there is a Dunkin, General store and a gas station like 3 minutes driving, which is great in case you forgot to buy something or are too lazy to make coffee and breakfast, I stayed for 2 night, can’t complain, and will come back for sure, I highly recommend this place, although I recommend to get the side from 33 to 57 it’s on the other side and not too close from the highway.

Good place for group camping

This is a larger campground. The sites are clean and well kept but are close in proximity of each other. None are private. This would be great for multiple families wanting to camp together.

Each site comes with a picnic table and a fire pit. The bathrooms are all within walking distance. There is one shower for the entire campground and is coin operated. The toilets and sinks are kept clean but you must supply your own soap.

Low cost, great location, basic

Great “base camp” for hiking Osceola & East Osceola. Easy access from I-93. Really great for access to Tripoli road, Waterville Valley.

Bathrooms clean. Showers clean. Host was excellent and knowledgeable. Loved advising campers where to go, what trails to checkout.

Sites vary dramatically in size, ground levelness etc. we lucked out. Site 44 was plenty large enough for our tent. A little gravely underneath but still comfortable. We don’t use an air mattress.

Other sites looked like nothing but tree roots.

Split 50:50 as far as reservable sites and first come first serve.

Only issue I could see was was on both loops the south side sites were too close to the road. Partially visible and too much road noise. (same side of the entrance). Not that Route 49 gets a lot of traffic.

Beautiful spot but close to the road

This is really a gem of a spot! There are two loops in the campground, both with similar sites. Some sites are closer together than others but if you’re lucky, you can get a site a little more secluded. As others have mentioned, the biggest drawback to this campground is its close proximity to a busy road. Again, there are some sites situated a little further back from the road that are quite nice though popular and hard to secure in the busy summer season.

Sites are nicely shaded by large pine trees and sites drain well in the rain. Picnic tables are large and the fire pits were clean. There are a few restrooms available with multiple stalls. There are coin operated showers located in one loop and there are only 2 of them for the entire campground. Even during the busy summer season, we were able to shower when we wanted without having to wait. The restrooms and showers were very clean. That being said(and the Forest Service website indicated this), there wasn’t any soap or paper towels available in the restrooms. The public was encouraged to bring their own soap due to the pandemic.

This campground is located in close proximity to many recreation opportunities. From day hiking to tubing the Pemi river, this campground is a perfect base camp spot for a few days of fun in the White Mountains.

Nice wooded sites, but near road

This campground off 49 in the southern part of the White Mountain National Forest offers sites along two loops that run parallel to the road. The sites on the southern site of the loop are VERY close to the road.  the sites are generally level and a decent size. Unlike many of national forest campgrounds, this one offers both flush toilets and showers. I was in site 9, which offered ample space for my vehicle and teardrop.

I stayed here on a June weekend in 2019 and the campground was not full. The back sites fill up earlier because they provide a little more distance from the road. Although some sites are reservable, others are saved for first come, first served, so it's a good option if you're heading to the mountains last minute.

It's in a great location if you want to enjoy some popular hikes such as Welch-Dickey, with great open ledges, and the Osceolas. A few other 4000-footers in the area include Mt Tecumseh and the Tripyramids. It's also close to I-93 if you want to head a little farther north to the Kanc. The Pemi river offers tubing, kayaking, and boating opportunities. If you're looking for outdoor resort activities, Waterville Valley offers biking and disc golf. Grab some ice cream after a hike or other outdoor fun at the Bear Den. Fishing opportunities on Campton Pond and the Mad River.

Love it here

This is a wonderful typical national forest campground. No hookups. Lots of tents. I had good download speeds with AT&T and Verizon, but uploads were very very slow.

You can definitely hear the road (NH49) from pretty much every site, but the sites are far apart and totally wooded so it still seems private.

On a noisy, busy road.

Continuing the pattern of not getting reservations before hand- we ended up at this campground. Don't get me wrong- we were happy to have this campground to sleep in... But the only sites that were available (4th of July weekend we spur of the moment decided to hike Franconia ridge) were the ones right next to the all hours busy road. Bathrooms were clean enough and people were friendly. Hammock trees were pretty much at every campsite-- and they were dog friendly! About a 20 minute drive from Franconia park.
